Samsung BlackJack II now available in pink and blue
Saying that Samsung's new BlackJack IIs are pink and blue is really only telling part of the story. Unlike the originals, the stylish new models feature contrasting white fronts with color-coordinated keys and fancy designs on the back -- perfect for that fashion-conscious Windows Mobile nerd in your life (if that's not an oxymoron, we don't know what is). Collect the whole set now for $99.99 a pop on contract.

Pink and blue. Yuck.
Pochi @ Jul 21st 2008 12:29PM
What's with the triple play?
fred @ Jul 21st 2008 12:44PM
I was wondering about the insanely weird comments.
Then I realized it was Steffen Jobs.
He makes the "First" post seem enlightening.

"perfect for that fashion-conscious Windows Mobile nerd in your life (if that's not an oxymoron, we don't know what is)... blah blah blah"
I'm sure to get blasted by the "we're a blog!!!1" defense, but IMO thats pretty effin' moot.
Engadget gets more passive-aggressive every day toward anything Microsoft. Anything related to Vista is especially bad -- even that recent article about record sales was drenched in disingenuous drivel.
Le sigh.

#1 on my agenda is to get a handset with darker colors which is more appropriate for a male user. Baby Blue and cutie pie Pink are far too feminine.
Steffen Jobbs @ Jul 21st 2008 12:28PM
#2. Even my avatar hates those colors. Loves WinMo but favors the color yellow.
hank94jp @ Jul 21st 2008 12:29PM
Next up...Hello Kitty edition.
Ace b @ Jul 21st 2008 8:57PM
so...does the bratZ one come after or does barbie?
thedesolate1 @ Jul 21st 2008 12:42PM
Fail!
ShogunMaster @ Jul 21st 2008 12:45PM
YES!!! They're reading my letters!!
Admittedly, there is nothing that would tempt me to buy a Blackjack, but this has got to be the worst marketing scheme ever.
"You don't like the Blackjack? Well what if we made it uglier? You want it now? Please? Come on!!"
fred @ Jul 21st 2008 12:57PM
How does putting a harmless pattern on the back make it ugly?
Brad @ Jul 21st 2008 1:05PM
@Fred
Putting an ugly pattern on the back makes it ugly.
fred @ Jul 21st 2008 1:15PM
I guess it's a matter of personal taste then.
Robert Olson @ Jul 21st 2008 12:47PM
i personally, have the bj2 in black, and these colors make the phone look cheap, and appeal to kids, its a wm6 phone its kinda a disgrace.
icepop4who @ Jul 21st 2008 12:57PM
too...much...irony...
thedesolate1 @ Jul 21st 2008 1:41PM
I see what you did there...
Wwhat @ Jul 21st 2008 1:02PM
They should lose those 'tv-tube' lines on the blue one, that's so 70's/'free-windows-themes'.
Josh @ Jul 21st 2008 1:05PM
How can one purchase one of these fancy phones from the link you provided to AT&T if they aren't even listed on their site?
Paul Dullford @ Jul 21st 2008 1:07PM
Cute. So much for being taken seriously at a business meeting with those colours.
Actually, the iPhone would look fabulous in those colours.

I hope the age of the business stiff is slowly dying. Seriously. Do these guys still think drab black/ gunmetal grey or faux silver / chrome is "business-like". Puhhleeeeeeezzzzz.
Bring in the different colours. Who caresssss what your colleagues think. Your colleagues are stiffs.
Now back to the topic:
This is all a plan to make blind you to the fact it's lacking wifi. Very unprofessional! Lack of wifi makes you look like an amateur!
:p
Mile @ Jul 21st 2008 1:10PM
Can we call the PinkJack and BlueJack?
thedesolate1 @ Jul 21st 2008 1:42PM
FruitJack?
R @ Jul 21st 2008 1:16PM
Ugh. Looks like Samsung has adopted the Motorola mantra of product development:
No new products, just new colors for existing ones.
Please release the Omnia already! :-)
Khris @ Jul 21st 2008 1:20PM
BlackJack......the new color changing RAZR!
Bassir @ Jul 21st 2008 1:53PM
Nice Nintendo patterns they got.
Wes @ Jul 21st 2008 2:05PM
it's like a mullet for phones.
Business in the front, party in the back.
(quietly tucks his wine red BJII into the pocket of his short sleeved white button down..... seriously)
rita hainsworth @ Jul 21st 2008 2:10PM
Finally!
SuperSexyErik @ Jul 21st 2008 2:12PM
ooooh cool ! i should go tell my grandma. they still used these fugly plastic keyboards when she was young.
SuperSexyErik @ Jul 21st 2008 2:28PM
@supersexyerik
exacly, these phones are so 90's.
they still run winmo!! haha
tekdroid @ Jul 22nd 2008 11:10PM
SuperSexyEric,
Your AGE is soooo 2000.
I think you are trying to say you prefer totally flat surfaces with no tactile feedback. Am I right? Good on you.
David @ Jul 21st 2008 2:14PM
If this isn't a sign that BJII is reaching end of life, I don't know what is.
Engadget, please post something about the new Blackjack 3 due out in October, or dig up some US release info for the phone to end all phones-The OMNIA
chickenator @ Jul 21st 2008 2:34PM
wow this is awesome!
i want one!
ginnal @ Jul 21st 2008 6:56PM
God I hate nerds.
The Blackjack II is probably the best Windows Mobile phone out there, changing the colors won't negate that, nor does it mean product development has stopped the Blackjack III will supposedly arrive in october.
technicaldiva @ Jul 21st 2008 7:42PM
I have a BJ, was thinking about upgrading. I will grab the pink for a change.
Golferal @ Jul 21st 2008 8:34PM
New BlackJack colors: Gay and Gayer.
jessica @ Jul 30th 2008 3:43PM
eh..
i was hoping for a cute pink blackberry or blackjack.
but it's the ugly purpley-pink color that i despise.
guess i'm trading in my crappy sony walkman thing.. for a normal colored blackberry.
OH DEAR.
what's with the weird little circles and crap?
