Dr. Dre's Beats headphones keep they heads ringin' for $350
You can't put velvet in these earcups and call 'em nice headphones! As Mr. Chappelle would likely attest, there are no better headphones in which to drop the beat into than Dr. Dre's "highly anticipated" Beats. The master of chronic himself has slapped his all-but-forgotten name onto a set of cans (which we spotted originally at CES), and is now ready to introduce 'em to the world. Starting on July 25th, the crunk-inducing headphones will be available exclusively at Apple and Best Buy (both online and in-store), though the buying experience would likely be way more gangsta if checking out at BeatsByDre.com. Still, for $349.95, we'd recommend looking at more respected names in sound, but if your street cred is sitting at rock bottom, you may have no other choice. Thug life, fool.

Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got somethin to say
But nothin comes out when they move their lips; just a bunch of gibberish
And motherfuckers act like they forgot about Dre
Was there a meaning behind that string of words?
best comment ever
It's an Eminem song mentioning Dr. Dre
Actually it's a Dr. Dre song that features Emenim.
TIMMY!
Ahh kk, I'm not much into rap, wouldn't have recognized that
@Blayed
Most people that call it "rap" aren't much into it... you are excused.
More like it's a Dr. Dre song totally written by Eminem
My bad guys... Last time I listened to that song was when it was a radio hit... I thought it was an eminem song...
shizzle
I'm guessing these are Studio headphones, as they definately aren't built like DJ headphones (swivel cups vs 'hinged cups'). The push-to-mute button is a nice touch though.
I don't think I'm gonna replace my RP-DJ1200s with them though.
Check the read link though, there are a few reviews floating around the web, for you drug dealer cum producer types :P
"for you drug dealer cum producer types"

all but forgotten name? you guys are dumb.
and crunk inducing? you guys are dumb.
i can forgive the all but forgotten if that was a "Forgot About Dre" reference, but crunk? Wrong genre!
WOW. Talk about FAIL. Crunk had nothing to do with that.
So, these aren't available at the Compton Swap Meet? Man, Dre really sold out!
I figured they would look cooler coming from Dre. They're produced by Monster so I'm sure they're decent quality, but I can't find any specs on their website really.
The headphones.....not speakers
"Thug life?" Umm...TuPac often said that, not Dr. Dre. Don't confuse us black folks! We all don't look alike!
I don't believe he said anything about race, did he? I think you're the one that automatically suggested he was stereotyping "thugs" as black people.
oh come on now... we all do *kinda* look alike. You know, in the way that keeps the white girls coming back for more.
@RyanTV
Almost destroyed my keyboard spitting out water. +2 sir.
I'll stick with my Ultrasones, thank you very much.
MONSTER! Like WTF. They don't headphones.
Plus they're probably DOUBLE the price.
- Monster HDMI cables cost $70 while you can Monoprice for $10.
- Monster Power Conditioners start at $300 - Belkin's PureAV cost less than $100.
Question is does Dre actually USE them for WORK. Or is he just lapping up the royalties ;)
laughing my ass off. Nice post!
I got the chance to try these out last week during a training session that monster did with my company, and I know that everyone there agreed that they were awesome headphones. These are active noise cancelling as well, and when switched on you couldn't even hear the person next to you talking. Try not to knock the price and quality till you try them.
A few points:
Don't be suprised to see Monster's product line expanding to all sorts of stuff over the next couple of years. Guitar amp. That's all I'm saying on that one.
There is a decent chance that Dre or one of his engineers did indeed have input on these, even if it was as simple as saying "Make them full isolation, and loud as fuck."
Personally, I'm not about to forget about Dre anytime soon. Forget about your 128k MP3's and break out an original copy or FLAC of either of his records... That shit hits hard as fuck, and set a high mark for good non-rock recordings.
You're just paying for the name. That's about it.
These headphones aren't like regular headphones. They steal music from real headphones and slightly refines the sound.
"Thug Life, fool"? How ignorant can we get? This just propels the stereotype of blacks that listen to Dr. Dre are for some reason thugs.
They probably are good headphones, but why would you need them to listen to rap/hip-hop? it's hardly music...
Nice, but for $350.00? I mean if they are on the same level as Bose why not cut the price to compete? I mean yea they're Dre's headphones, but why not cut it back to something less like maybe 229.00?
Just my .2
you mean .02?
unless you're the new TWNTY
350 is too much for me, but the review i found makes them sound like pretty good headphones:
http://www.switched.com/2008/01/24/hands-on-with-monsters-new-dr-dre-beats-headphones/
Dre is actually a legend and a hell of a producer.
$350 is a pretty mean price tag, but if a guy not really known in the past for putting his name on too many marketing ploy-ish products comes out with something like this, I might actually be willing to believe that they sound good.
A lot of you guys are reacting as if this was like Nelly putting out a $1,000 set of headphones that come with a free gold-plated grill.
Anyone else think that they are fugly?
+1 Dre
-1 Monster
So does that mean you're only supposed to steal them?
YEEEE! BOOYYYYY! G G G GUNIT!
seriously if i had the dollar on the low, i would buy this yo. but i dont care if headphones gave u a 'better then live' experience i would not pay more then $80. sorry fella!
check my name. oh ye ud better believe it! BITCH!
j/ks.
Tried them with a wide range of music, little play with EQ and they sound great, even better than the quiet comfort 3.
True that people might stop speaking before seeing, trying and experiencing.
lol, i was just watching TV and...
These 'phones feature in Busta Rhyme and Linkin Park's new video.
Usually I would say that most stuff from monster is over priced, but good quality. Unlike most of the people who have posted comments on this and the writer of this blurb, I have heard these headphones side by side with Bose QC3 noise canceling headphones. Guess what... Their better.
Contrary to what you might think of something attached to a hip hop artist this are high quality well put together headphones that have a significant sound quality edge over the the Bose product I compared them to, at the same price. These headphones have an exceptional clean response through out it's wide sound range.
They do tend to be a bit on the warm side, but not muddy like the Bose QC3 headphones. I kind of feel like people are pigeonholing this headphones. if you want to be a one of those people who talk about things with authority without having background information, just remember when you're completely off base it makes you like as stupid as you are.
