ZeeVee's localcasting ZvBox gets hands-on treatment
Not that you haven't seen ZeeVee's ZvBox in the flesh before, but Dave Zatz got some hands-on time with the finalized unit. According to him, the box showed an impressive build quality though it ran "quite hot" -- likely a result of foregoing a built-in fan for a giant heatsink. He also noted that image quality was "good," though he did mention that he longed to see the ability to "selectively isolate a video window and present that content fullscreen." Anywho, feel free to read up on his initial impressions and peep the hands-on pics in the read link below.

i am overpowered by the amount of z's in this article!
and e's.
dude! I have that lamp. oh, this is a tech blog? my bad. cool gadget that no one seems to care about. otherwise the first post wouldn't be about a lamp.
I see your thinly veiled attempt at a first...
I had to click through three articles before they stopped telling me I knew what this thing did:
"Not that you haven't seen ZeeVee's ZvBox in the flesh before..." - er, no I haven't... click
"We don't have to tell you where the goods are, but if you're new here, that read link down there is a good place to start." - ah, okay, yes, you do need to tell me because I do not know, but I'll bite... click
"As many of you know, ZeeVee is getting set to launch their $499 ZvBox (pre-order at Amazon) that essentially creates a remote PC link/experience to any TV in your home." - Okay, great! At last. Could you have just put one sentence at the start of the article saying that?
Of course not. Do you realize how many ad impressions AOL just got?
Primero!
Next time, look up the translation beforehand so that it doesn't take, uh......an hour and 21 minutes before you click to add.
So basically it's one HTPC for all of your TVs to get access to instead of several. That's not a bad idea until you have multiple people wanting to do multiple things at once.
$500...Hmm..how many tv tuners could I buy with that and have enough left over to replace that lamp when it gets knocked over?
its a nice lamp. really.
seriously though, this product doesn't apeal to anyone, because the only people that know about it read engadget and are knowledgeable enough to put a TV tuner in one of their spare or secondary computers; all it takes then is a stable computer with an HDMI out capable video card and a big HDD. the other part of the audience for this product already has or is considering TIVO, unaware that this even exists. this thing needs a huge ad campaign to sell profitably
Expensive...

I like lamp.
Doesn't that thing just scream "cutting edge technology"?
