Pantel readies trio of weatherproof Mirror TVs
Just because you haven't been remotely interested in seen a mirror TV in, oh, years, doesn't mean that companies aren't still interested in exploiting the niche. Take Pantel, for instance, who is totally stoked about debuting a trio of 'em at CEDIA 2008. Set to launch in 20-, 32- and 42-inch flavors, the Mirror TV line is aimed at folks looking to add a multipurpose display in their bathroom, shower or sauna. The 20- and 32-inch editions arrive with a 720p panel, while the 42-incher checks in with a full 1080p resolution. Price wise, you're looking at $1,200 for the little guy, $2,755 for the 32-inch sibling and $5,800 for the mack daddy.

I think these panels will become more important as time progresses. I can see myself installing on in the master bedroom, but maybe not for 5-10 years. built in speaker doesn't look great, I'd rather have a solid unbroken surface.

Opps.. I mean one in the master bathroom. and loose the branding on the bottom of the screen, It ruins the illusion.

So, I'll be able to see myself in High Definition? Ra!

Cool, I can mount a webcam on the other wall and use picture-in-picture to see the front and back.

And then when you have house guests over, a little hackery with a proximity sensor and the goatse image . . .

Another useless product for some of us residents in the Carpathian Mountains here in Transylvania.

I like it .
I can imagine these things blending seamlessly in many ultra cool home decors.
Interior designers are gonna have a field day

And you thought glossy laptop displays were annoying!
E.J. @ Jul 26th 2008 1:40PM
I wouldn't mind having one of these in my master bedroom as my "closet TV".
Rick @ Jul 26th 2008 3:04PM
Maybe you should come of the closet sometime.

Massive fail on your 'burn' attempt.

OMG the fun I could have at my daughter's sleepovers. Anyone remember Bloody Mary as a sleepover horror story??? AHAHAHAHA
Scott @ Jul 26th 2008 8:15PM
These already exist... they're called plasma TVs :P

Bathroom? Shower?? Sauna???
Anyone realize that water vapor condenses as fog on the cooler temperatures of glass? Ever look at a bathroom mirror after a shower? No Hi-Def there. Totally useless application. Make sure to get the windshield wiper attatchment 8D
Now, scrape off the flowers and logo and loose the slots in the glass, for a few RCA jacls or an output for a surround sound application, and you'll have something.
Manufacturer's can always have their logo displayed for a few seconds after the unit is switched on.

Ok, I see it, this could be some fun.
A bit of hacking and some enlightening revelations for all those 'mirror, mirror on the wall ...' vain type freaks!
Please drop the price or the hack's completely lost.
