Zune Guy calls Microsoft 'liars,' says Zune situation is 'f***ing bulls**t'
You've probably heard by now that the infamous Zune Guy ("Microsoft Zune") was so disappointed with Microsoft that he's elected to have his ink removed in place of something more in line with his shifted priorities. In addition to the reconstructive work he's going to have, ZG claims that Microsoft actually lied to him about his free trip to the Redmond campus, which (as you might imagine) further tarnishes his image of the company. Unfortunately, according to reps from Microsoft we spoke with, the trip was never confirmed -- only discussed -- and ultimately canceled due to the very reasonable fear that it might lead a lot of "hyper-engaged users" to expect a trip of their own (though they did hook our man up with a free Zune and some related swag). What you probably haven't heard (or seen) is his sprawling video rant, in which he accuses the big M of dropping the ball on his favorite PMP before going on a general rage-bender. We've included the video after the break (careful moms, it's full of expletives), as well as link to a zunescene forum where the Zune Guy reveals he's just purchased a new PMP... an iPod.

Well at least his new PMP is thinner...
Biomech @ Jul 26th 2008 7:36PM
Wish I could say the same about him...
sinai @ Jul 26th 2008 8:11PM
at least they cropped out the back hair in this picture.
Khris @ Jul 26th 2008 8:12PM
OMG, his head can't even fit on the screen!
hiimcliff @ Jul 26th 2008 8:37PM
dont sweat it... just get an ipod tat.
Dr. Evil @ Jul 26th 2008 8:29PM
I know you guys will probably low rank me but why don't you just leave the guy alone. He's not hurting anyone and some of the comments are really over-the-top mean.
jroc @ Jul 26th 2008 8:53PM
I agree with you Dr. Evil but don't you see it as paradoxical that YOU state this? I mean being Dr. EVIL and all.
adam @ Jul 26th 2008 8:54PM
i want to poke this guy with a stick
Khris @ Jul 26th 2008 8:55PM
I'd like to poke him with a 747! I'm not sure if I'd win though.
Tom @ Jul 26th 2008 8:59PM
We can't leave him alone, because he won't leave us alone. He willingly puts himself out into the general public's judging eyes. So, given the fact that he's a moron that permanently affixed a symbol of his favorite PMP onto his skin several times (bad enough as-is), then changed his mind and made a big deal on the internet about both happenings, the internet as a whole has full access to make fun of him.
It'd be one thing if we were making fun of a fat moron - it's another thing altogether to make fun of a fat moron who openly and freely doesn't know that technology is in no way static and permanent but tattoos are.
Superevil @ Jul 26th 2008 9:11PM
He should have picked up a real PMP like a Zen or something.
Luigi193 @ Jul 26th 2008 9:12PM
I've always felt bad about all the SUPER mean comments...
I feel bad for the dude...
='(
Khris @ Jul 26th 2008 9:44PM
"Real PMP" and "Zen" do not belong in the same sentence.
Snitch @ Jul 26th 2008 9:57PM
He did the right thing cause when the Zune came out he stood by the product, and now he believes he made a mistake, WTF is wrong with that????? let me guess everyone here is perfect. Zune guy am with you all the way, if something sucks called it out!!! F**K Microsoft and Apple.
JohnTitor @ Jul 26th 2008 10:02PM
well I hope it doesn't take him that long to find out apple will be less impressed than microsoft with his iPod fanboyism (assuming he started tattooing that too)
Ignatius @ Jul 26th 2008 10:11PM
I think a real PMP is the Cowon line. Those things are the best of the best.
Steffen Jobbs @ Jul 26th 2008 10:18PM
"Thas all I can stanz, 'cause I can't stanz no more." - Popeye the sailor
Zune Guy finally sees the effing light. He tells it like it is. Zune's most loyal promoter finally discovers the Zune sucks. Gonna get an Apple tattoo on his left butt cheek. He left the Social to taste the Kool-Aid. Effing A, Zune Guy. Yummy tasting Kool-Aid. The rest of you Zune lovers should learn something from this. The only PMP better than an iPod is a new iPod.
Now that he's got a job and his life is getting on track, he's gonna get a Classic iPod. He says, take that, Microsoft and Zune chumps everywhere. This has to be the funniest and insightful story on Engadget this whole year. Zune Guy says:
Zune = F***KING BULLS**T EPIC FAIL
What an effin' riot. ROTFWL.
Only Nelson Muntz can sum up this entire article in one word:
HAAAAAAAAAA-HAA!
cboy007 @ Jul 26th 2008 10:51PM
wow, you are SO not an apple fanboy.
actually, apple probably paid him off and gave him a free ipod.
ShogunMaster @ Jul 26th 2008 11:07PM
Well the good thing about the Zune Tattoo was that at least he could get it done at any third party tattoo shop by someone who didn't work directly for Microsoft.
His new iPod tattoo will have to be bought at the Mac Store.
Grey Acumen @ Jul 26th 2008 11:27PM
@Dr. Evil - Let's face it. It always makes people feel better when, no matter how stupid, pathetic, and horrible they feel about themselves, they can find something like this and say "wow, at least I'm not THAT bad"
I still agree with Tom though, he put himself up for public scrutiny. This is an embarrassingly tragic and nearly disgusting display of fandom. Even though I'm not a fan of Zune, microsoft, or any media player for that matter, I have been a fan of other things, and as someone who is or even has been a fan of anything, I feel like it has actually become more embarrassing to admit that simply because something like this has happened.
For some people, this will be an attempt to distance themselves, hoping to not have the ways of their particular fandom connected to this, but for others this may simply be a desire to attempt to inject a modicum of humor and lightheartedness into what is otherwise a veritable internet trainwreck.
My personal assessment of the situation? He already made a fool out of himself by getting a tattoo of a brand on his body and then displaying that tattoo on the internet for all to see. If he's now backing out of that original tone, he was either A) Paid off, or B) he is an attention whore, and the fix he got from his first tattoos is beginning to wear off and now he needs to do something for a new hit.
I'm leaning towards the latter actually.
Matt @ Jul 26th 2008 11:47PM
This guy is complete nerd, i mean a lot of people are REALLY nerdy on this site but this guy is WAY too much.
PS: Notice the lovely shot of his mom's basement in the backround.

K I S S ...
Quikboy @ Jul 27th 2008 1:27AM
1. Zune guy claims he loves the Zune, and gets the product logo tattooed on him. iPod fanboys laugh.
2. Zune guy claims he's ditching the Zune for an iPod. iPod fanboys still laugh.
Microsoft just can't win, can they? I'm wondering if this is a clever tactic being pushed by some other company that produces PMP's. I never liked fanatics of any kind anyway.
Quix @ Jul 27th 2008 1:53AM

"and ultimately canceled due to the very reasonable fear that it might lead a lot of "hyper-engaged users" to expect a trip of their own"
Based on the number of "Zune" players I have seen in the wild, I'd imagine they wouldn't have to worry too much about having many "hyper-engaged users".. :)
livioo @ Jul 27th 2008 5:41AM
To the retard saying the iPod is much better than the Zune:
Let me tell you something asshole, I have both the iPod touch and the Zune 80. When I wanna surf the Web, check my e-mail or watch some random shit on that big screen, I use my touch, but when I wanna listen to SOME MUSIC, I USE THE ZUNE! Good quality build, excellent headphones (I'm using them on my iPod, that's how much I love them), intuitive menu, bigger screen than the Classic... You haters better get your head out of your ass and realize that the Zune is Microsoft's best product since Windows 95 and Xbox...
And this fucking clown is just a poser... He tattooed his back just to get free Zunes, and rides at Redmond, he's a douche bag... just look at his face, he looks like a child molester, fat son of a bitch...
I can't stand it when people take sides 4 no apparent reason... You assholes have to accept that some products are better than others no matter what company makes them... the touch is better as a PDA, the Zune is better as a music player... as simple as that...
uclatommy @ Jul 27th 2008 10:15PM
This is all just a ploy to squeeze money out of microsoft because they're rich enough to throw money at him to make him go away. You guys are helping him by giving him all this attention. He's a loser.
Snitch @ Jul 28th 2008 1:12AM
This is what i think happen!!!
1. Zune guy spends 7 to 8 months downloading music & getting his 80GB drive full
2. The US hit's a recession and gas prices go sky high, even millionares start losing their homes and start feeling the heat.
3. Zune guy misses a few payment's to the zune market place.
4. Microsoft Nukes zune guy music library, over 20,000 songs and over 6 month's of work all down the drain.
LOL, hey it's possible
Brad @ Jul 28th 2008 3:52AM
Dear Apple,
He's your problem now.
Sincerely,
Microsoft.

Everyone gets their 15 minutes of fame. Atleast I respect him more than this idiots 15 minutes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qOW__TneAY The zune guy atleast had a cause and stuck up for it, I respect him for that. Now granted, he did go overboard but still he stuck up for something in his 15 minutes of fame.
Abuzar Baloach @ Jul 27th 2008 12:03AM
OH NOES THE FAT MAN WITH THE ZUNE TATTOO SAYS THE ZUNE SUCKS!!!
Whatever, nobody cares anyway. Everybody except for him is pretty happy with their Zune. The FORUMS ARE DWINDLING? Who cares?
MuffinStory @ Jul 27th 2008 3:09AM
The internet is serious business.
Reid @ Jul 27th 2008 2:46PM
Yeah, this guy needs to go away. I'm sick of seeing his ugly mug all the time. He's the one creating the publicity for himself, so why should we feel bad about negative comments?
coffee @ Jul 28th 2008 12:47PM
yeah.. it's just an MP3 player. now you have just another mp3 player (without a radio).
No one cares, except to mock you. Your fat opinion is just another opinion.
I don't care how good something is, if it isn't capable of [specific sexual act] than I'm not getting a tattoo of it.
Matt @ Jul 26th 2008 7:38PM
Hey stupid Zune guy, Welcome to the real world. You're an idiout for backing a crappy product and everything you have said or done since then is complete crud. Keep your fat ugly ass mouth shut and die. This also goes for all the stupid blogs out there that have bother to follow this as*&*&&%^.
Holmes @ Jul 26th 2008 7:42PM
F**k the real world. The social is much more interesting.
Khris @ Jul 26th 2008 8:13PM
How interesting can a social be when only a couple people show up? Maybe MS should have called it a "Sleepover" instead of a Social.
geekspence @ Jul 26th 2008 8:41PM
That comment was an example of how much of a jerk this world has become... "Keep your fat ugly ass mouth shut and die."?!!??!?

Whoo... Talk about fleeting fanboyism.
Pochi @ Jul 27th 2008 2:30AM
He wanted spotlight. He got it. He wanted free trips and tons of free shit, he didn't get it (although he did get a few freebies). So now he's throwing a fucking hissy fit.
What an asswipe.
Fuck you, Zune guy.
Hafk @ Jul 27th 2008 3:56AM
Yeah. Microsoft doesn't have to give him jack shit. You shouldn't expect free gifts just because you are a giant fanboy.
Just wait until he gets two or three Apple tattoo's, and then find him doing the exact same thing when Apple doesn't want to send him free gifts and trips.
LarryLarryLarry @ Jul 28th 2008 5:10AM
Where is the "rant"? He never even raises his voice! He does swear twice, in about 5 minutes. That's hardly a "rant".
I was totally sold a bill of goods by Engadget. I was told to watch the fireworks and then they showed me a candle.
Guess I'll remove my Engadget tat.
JUST KIDDING.
But seriously, this item was a complete fraud. Welcome to the new editor.
SneAKz @ Jul 26th 2008 7:39PM
Maybe he should tattoo an Apple logo instead. He knows he wants too.
yoshi @ Jul 26th 2008 7:42PM
Yo, Zune Guy - it's about time you woke up and realized that people are not laughing with you, they're laughing at you.
ScOObyDoo @ Jul 26th 2008 7:43PM
The best thing he could have done for himself was remove the tat's and go into hiding. But now he's only making things worse for himself.
peshue @ Jul 26th 2008 7:44PM
This dude must get tattoos of girls names after 2 dates also, then be unhappy when he actually gets to know them.
