Nikon D700 full-frame DSLR gets unboxed on video
It's easy enough to drool over the press shots of Nikon's luscious D700. Seeing someone unbox this full-frame beast on video is another experience entirely (bordering on spiritual, really). Unfortunately, the vid waiting after the break is just two minutes long and doesn't show any clicks being depressed, but those looking to get a better idea of the size and build have plenty of reason to click through.

do want !
is it iPhone compatible?
Is my foot and your ass compatible?
Yes it is, you can take pictures of your 1st gen iPhone and your new iPhone 3G with this camera. Happy?
only with the new updates
Tool.
that last comment was to the ass foot comment, its much less funny when its not adjacent to that other one.
Oh canon, why won't you kill the 5D line and replace it with a real EOS 3D to compete with this D700... Pro weathersealed body with full frame and all features of the 1 series, but without the integrated grip that makes it a huge tank.
When are they going to be releasing sesors with high dynamic range?
you mean sensors that can take pictures of things you imagine? I think that is slated for fall 2009 from hasselblad.
When there are monitors, printers, and paper that would show the differences that HDR would bring.
If you're talking about shooting with automatic exposure bracketing (best way to shoot for HDR), then any SLR (including the d700) and a few P and S cameras will do the job.
Cheapest I believe is the Canon G9 though.
A DSLR sensor, especially a full-frame one already does shoot in a pretty high dynamic range anyway. Medium format and above have even higher dynamic ranges.
scott: not really.
How about a sensor that never clips the shadows and highlights (in any channel)? That's useful DR and has nothing to do with output.
HDR is just a fad. the camera makes realize this.
uhh yea.... HDR and actual dynamic range are different... more dynamic range is always a good thing, and digital sensors are still behind film when it comes to this.
What makes this so special, its not like that much has changed since the other 15 or so DLSRs.
Ignorant tool.
Sorry I was really tired last night, I don't even remember posting that
What an %$#hole...the #$#hole in that video had absolutely no respect for anything...throwing stuff around, treating a very awesome camera like it was a piece of rubbish that they didn't want....moron!!
Well it is indeed a quick unboxing :)
consumers tend to baby expensive cameras. pros expect expensive cameras to take some abuse. that was nothing.
He threw:
1. The capture NX DEMO(like you need it)
2. Quick start guide....if you have the D700 you know the camera already
3. Spam that nikon puts in there(registration and other crap)
4. The instruction manual.......see #3
Whatever he threw is beside the point - he had no respect for it. Somebody worked really hard putting that stuff together and it's rude to just chuck it around. Hopefully one would throw around some of your stuff if you ever created anything...no respect, I disliked the unboxing. I think if you're going to unbox something you should do it with an appreciation for what it is you are unboxing and a little more respect....
More unboxing

That unboxing was heaps better!!
That unboxing was heaps better!!
Well, I just picked up a "used" (=unpacked once, never fired a shot, strap missing) D3 for the same price as a new D700. No denying that the D700 is a lot lighter which will make a difference at the end of a long day. On the other hand, the D3 is a tank, and I like the integrated vertical grip. In terms of picture quality - no difference whatsoever. I would not pay the premium for getting a new D3, but at the same price, mint condition - oh yeah...
Must sell D40x and buy D700....and buy more nikon crap....
I think this guy is trying to be a mime, with the lack of speaking and the exaggerated jerky movements.
Actually, that's just the way I move...
Too bad I've already a stock a Canon stuff. Canon keep up!
We got those at work on Friday along with the SB-900.
I wish these full frame cameras weren't so bloddy expensive so I can afford one. Until then, I'll keep borrowing the Phase One P30+ camera kit.
OMG, an expensive Nikon camera that came with a STRAP!
Thank God I saw that video.
I've still got a Nikon D70 but i'm very happy what i've got at the moment but i dont see any point for me to upgrade latest model - Most of digital camera are playing game with MegaPixel or add few features now these days...enough is enough playing up with MegaPixel!
who care if other got 20MP but im dead happy with 6.1 =) i can print enough size to hang up in the wall....
This camera does not play MP count at all. The main thing here is the sensor size and the advantage it gives in low light/high iso...
This camera is a real good deal for the ones that want the full meat with affordable size.
I had a D70s that died the other day and I replaced it with a D300, if you have the money, this would be a good time to upgrade if your happy with your glass. Worlds better, really; I was extremely happy with my D70, the D300 is just a head and shoulders better(and more expensive).
this camera is actually an upgrade, your point fails.
I can understand you point if you were talking about a little p&s(14MP++) on a pin sized sensor....makes for a lot of noise in the photo... but the D700 is a full frame sensor, meaning there will me significantly less noise due to megapixels..(also that it's like the D3 and can take photos @ 1600ISO w/o noise)
I could understand D70->D80....not much difference....but D70->D700 O_O *angelic music starts playing*
nice :)
Yeah we got these at work on friday as well, and I have been playing with them. weight-wise, it feels very simular to the D3, a tad lighter.
love the low-light performance though! I played around with a SB-900—took 38 consecutive shots with the flash firing for each one, and they weren't fresh batteries. nice camera and flash, without a doubt.
Picked mine up yesterday.
If you are on the fence just go order one! - this is the slickest camera I have owned/used to date. (D80, D200, D300, Canon 5D, 20D).
