Comcast offering a free Wii to new 'Triple Play' subscribers
We've seen our fair share of subscription-dependent giveaways in the past in the form of Eee PC's and even the rare PS3 offer -- but handing out a Wii with cable service strikes us as somewhat notable. According to an offer from Comcast, newcomers to the company's "Triple Play" of digital cable, VOIP service, and high-speed internet will also be able to bag an honest-to-goodness Nintendo Wii on their way out the door. Sure, you've got to sign a two-year contract (à la mobile telco policy), but you'll also walk away with a console that still can't be found on a lot of store shelves. Does this signal the ultimate dilution of the Wii into a ubiquitous and truly casual mainstay, or does it simply suggest Comcast and the big N had a sweet -- and likely limited -- deal? Only the suits know for sure.

Just called them. You have to be a completely new subscriber to get the deal. Even if you are just a internet subscriber and want to upgrade to triple-play you can't get it.
I might call back and try to get a different rep tomorrow and see if I can get a better answer.
My prediction is that in 6 months no Comcast customers will have received a single Wii and Comcast will provide a Sega Genesis instead.
I just tried to 're-up' my contract (for 2 years mind you, not just 1 like before), UPGRADE to the higher tier of service, and all I get is a very unfriendly "Nope, sorry - NEW CUSTOMERS ONLY"
Punishing existing customers for being existing customers... its CoMcAsTiC!!!!
Comcast sure needs a hand or two with customer service. But also their service marketing needs one.
According to this article http://www.internetevolution.com/author.asp?section_id=544&doc_id=158536&f_src=flffour that tried to reach to the bandwidth cap that Comcast employs but didn't even get close. Everyone thinks they have a cap, but it's huge - 99% won't even notice it.
Lot of hating going on here, but since I just signed up for this deal, though I would lay it out right.
1) You CAN still get the deal if you already get service from Comcast, as long as you don't have the triple play package.
2) Based on the services I already get, I'm only paying $8 more a month, getting 2 free movie channels, Comcast home phone service, and a Wii.
3) The rate will NOT go up.
4) Most of you are complete idiots.
Hope this helps!

The only hating that should be done is towards Comcast, it's a scam! I know, you are correct, the offer is clearly stated that it is for new "Triple Play Customers" but they are now double talking and saying that it's for new customers. If you get your Wii, it will be a miracle.
Tell you what, I'm so confident that I WILL get the Wii based on conversations I've had with the good folks of Team Comcast, Michelle, that I'll make you this wager. If I DON'T get the Wii, I'll personally perform at a party for you and your friends, FREE of charge...
...but if I DO, you owe me Animal Crossing: City Folk. Do we have a deal? ;-)

That sucks big time, when we signed up for Triple Play we didn't get anything at all and our charges went up after 6 months (can't remember for sure, we've had our service with Comcast since Jan '06) Seems like they take good care and offer the best deals to new customers, well what about existing and faithful (stupid, maybe?! lol) customers...Pls don't bother asking why I'm still w/ Comcast coz I have no idea myself :(
I called comcast today to get info and sign up for NEW service. We are moving and have NEVER had comcast. I went through the process and never was offered the WII........inspite of the ads running on TV. So, I called back to ask about it. The song & dance began....they would have to run my credit to see if I was a "post deposit" or not, (what does that have to do with it??) and, further into the dance I'm told that you have to take a higher price package to qualify. Got off the phone, saw the ad again (no indication of price package & no fine print)and called back asking for a supervisor....the service person never give me the supervisor..just continues the dance with them telling me that they already made a concession to my proposed service. I push and am told that the super will call me right back...........NEVER happens. So where do I go for phone internet and tv.............I had at&t & they constantly were raising our rates. HELP!
i want one a free wii
I took advantage of the promotion. Was told that I would get the WII shipped to me in 6-8 weeks. Just called. They told me that they sent me 2 notices requiring me to sign an agreement for the 2 years. Never received it. Then the phone rep left for 5 minutes to talk to a supervisor. She came back and said that the agreement was emailed to me twice. Hmmmmm. Never recieved that either. Now I do not qualify! The good news is that I do not have a 2 year agreement. Sounds like a scam to get out of handing out a WII system that cannot be obtained in stores without standing in lines......
