Video: Robo-One carnage shot at 300fps
Japan's Impress Watch had the good fortune to attend this year's Robo-one tournament with a Casio EX-F1 in hand. The result is vise-to-vise combat captured at 300 frames per second. See a perfectly executed German suplex performed after the break. Makes us almost feel sorry for the little guy... almost.

Wow, for once I'm actually missing the constant barrage of iPhone news.

Then go to http://www.tuaw.com/ and leave the rest of us alone.

I would except that they have only gotten three new posts in the last few days. Thats about as slow as it gets.
Ethan @ Jul 28th 2008 1:48PM
That would be what is called a weekend.
GenBanks @ Jul 28th 2008 5:10AM
I hope robots won't be able to do that to humans any time soon :( All those 'I, for one,' comments won't seem so tongue in cheek when you see robot take downs in the street during their inevitable revolution.
VanS @ Jul 28th 2008 5:17AM
It makes me happy to remember that these little guys are still small enough to punt across the room before they try to kick my ass...
Darwin @ Jul 28th 2008 5:17AM

Real-life Toribash! Haha.
ShadowKain @ Jul 28th 2008 8:12AM
That was actually pretty awesome. But, it scares me to thnk of the roboot overlords doing that to us, once they learn to think for themselves! X.X
nih @ Jul 28th 2008 9:07AM
Fortunately I think we have less to fear from robotic boots than we do from autonomous M-16 wielding iraqbots.
Mike C @ Jul 28th 2008 9:03AM
So when do you think they will be able to program them to counter-attack?
Redbeaver @ Jul 28th 2008 9:09AM
holy crap thats one wicked supplex! rofl!

Simon @ Jul 28th 2008 9:24AM
What's that robot? Is it of the shelf? Looks like it ... anyone know?
Zephyr @ Jul 28th 2008 10:15AM
A perfect suplex!
Valgas @ Jul 28th 2008 11:31AM
Next thing you know there will be a 6'1 tall Robo-One serial suplexing humans.
Zak @ Jul 28th 2008 12:13PM
The suplex was awesome, but I think the most impressive part was how he got back up afterwards. Kickass.
Josh @ Jul 28th 2008 12:32PM
That looks amazing.
Those damn robots are going to make slaves our of us before we even notice it. Dogs have been doing this for years (we feed, clean and amuse them)
In this article http://www.internetevolution.com/author.asp?section_id=526&doc_id=155718&f_src=flffour they talk about robots downloading personalities and developing emotional bonding.
Mile @ Jul 28th 2008 1:45PM
Human eyes can see maximum of 70fps...so why does 300fps even exist? For the benefit of other robots?
Frankie @ Jul 28th 2008 1:55PM
mile has THE BEST ENGADGET POST EVER!!!
Ian @ Jul 28th 2008 2:11PM
Umm so we can slow it down and play it back so we get slow-mo. have you really not been paying attention to high speed film?
Ian @ Jul 28th 2008 2:12PM
AHHH damn it all. sarcasm has yet to turned on in my brain today...
Ethan @ Jul 28th 2008 1:51PM
Great. But they can't roll to get up.

Is this the Robot from 7th age of computing?
Tempusmaster @ Jul 31st 2008 11:22PM
It's a minor point, but that match actually took place at the 5th Wonderful Robot Carnival in Tokyo last month. There are more photos here: http://www.robots-dreams.com/2008/07/5th-wonderful-r.html The Carnival is held every six months, and is one of the pre-qualification events for the big ROBO-ONE competitions.
