Vizio readies 26-inch VMM monitor: its first LCD aimed at dedicated PC users
Vizio made some waves recently with the introduction of two bargain-priced plasmas, but it could garner attention from a whole new sect of individuals next month. Reportedly, the outfit is gearing up to launch "its first monitor tailored for dedicated PC users" in late August, the 26-inch widescreen VMM monitor. We are told that it'll boast HDMI inputs, reduced brightness and higher resolution "than typical IT displays," but aside from that (and the $449 price tag), the rest remains a mystery. Also of note, the company is expected to debut an "eco-friendly" line of TVs this October, which are said to "operate with 35- to 45-percent less power than traditional LCD TVs of comparable size." Way to keep us on the edge of our seats, Vizio.[Via Electronista]

Given that price and that Vizio is making it, I'd expect WUXGA resolution.
that price isn't bad for a 26 inch monitor
I've yet to see a consumer 26 inch (or 28 inch for that matter) monitor that has anything better than WUXGA. Vizio is hardly to blame for that now are they?
Sweet!
say what you want abot vizio but i am happy they bring lower-tierd (read cheap) products to the market place...they, by themselves, are helping to drive the LCD, Plasma, price war....we consumers = win
Title of the article really needs an "its" or "the company's" before "first."
Your wish was their command, it seems.
Hmm.. Samsung T260, WUXGA (1920x1200), HDMI etc.

the difference there is a good 200$. nice try though
Um. That thing costs twice as much.
Yet they are probably almost exactly the same......
2 things:
1) It's UK price
2) Vizio ins't the first in the game.
yes, and our dollar is worth half of theirs, so yes, its still twice as much.
I don't think anyone thought this Vizio was going to be the first 26" LCD. The point of Vizio is they sell cheap displays at cheap prices. The samsung you linked is about ~$900, so I'm not seeing the point of your post.
You can get a T260 for closer to 500-600.
I hope thats not a picture of it, Vizio really needs to do more work in the style department. I'd rather get a Samsung touch of color 24in monitor than get this for the same price.
I first saw this article on ubergizmo here is "possible" a product shot'

If just WUXGA...Ummm.... meaningless...
Vizio....Y A W N.
Vizio, the same brand that released bargain-bin 'you-get-what-you-pay-for' High-def sets is making something cheap again. That's all you need to know.
I have never owned anything Vizio in my life, but I was excited to see this story. What people don't realize enough is that the bargain brands help drive down the price of everything else. That's always a good thing.
Now you've gone and made me feel all rotten about my comment. :(
If the corners weren't too round this will be a great dual monitor setup. But screw this is something different. Very minimalist design.

Engadget please change the pic.
I don't mind paying a $1000 dollar premium just to ensure no dead or stuck pixels.
I had to re-read article title couple of times trying to understand "monitor dedicated to the PC user"... What's next, a keyboard specially designed for typing? Yeah yeah, I get it now Vizio used to make TVs only... :)
For $450 I'd bet almost anything its a mediocre TN type panel. High quality 26" LCD monitors don't show up until you hit the $700 range.
