WiiBrew's Wii Pack Generator takes the "messy" out of homebrew
Not that getting some hand-crafted 'brew on the Wii was any great feat to begin with, but the kindhearted individuals over at WiiBrew have decided to make things even easier. The newly released Wii Pack Generator is, in its own words, a "web-based utility that allows you to select from the most recent, up to date, and high quality homebrew for your Nintendo Wii and create a custom pack." Everything you select will be beautifully organized into a .zip or .exe file with the correct structure for easy extraction onto your SD card. Any remaining doubts you had about giving this a go just flew out the window (really, we saw it go down), so check the read link to conquer your fears and start really living.

FIR.... wow that's cool... I think I'm going to buy a Wii... or maybe drink beer... yep I think I'll have the beer!
John @ Jul 28th 2008 9:21AM
Har Har! The Wii is for little kids!
Oh wait, it's good for getting women in the sack, too. Enjoy your WoW, loser.
liv @ Jul 28th 2008 9:40AM
I said "wow" as in "wooooooow....", evidently ironic... I don't play WoW, asshole, as a matter a fact I don't play games.... and there isn't a woman on this earth who will be interested in you if you say: "hey baby, wanna go to my place and play with my Wii"... come back till your old enough to drink beer and tell me how the girl reacted to that...

My wife and I play strip bowling all the time.
Get 3 strikes in a row and your opponent has to take off one article of clothing. Subsequent strikes (the 4th, 5th, etc..) merit another item being taken off.
We also have a 69 bonus that activates whenever the points for your round total, you guessed it...69.
I play to lose!
I also drink beer...both are fun activities and can lead to sex. But with a Wii, no beer goggled regrets the next day.

Wow.... a whopping eight minutes off.
Either you were being "ironic" and your comment should be honored as modern art or something... or you're a dipshit.
(I'm betting dipshit.)

Damn you and your meager 512 Mb internal memory Wii!
I hate installing all these awesome apps then having to delete them later to try another out due to no disc space!
Frank @ Jul 28th 2008 11:38AM
This homebrew runs directly from the SD card including the emulators.
The Wii's internal memory is irrelevant when running homebrew, just get a 2Gig SD and you will be able to fit all the homebrew you want ;-)
Jewry @ Jul 28th 2008 9:45AM
that thing looks awesome! i cant wait to give it a try...

Instead of using this and having to take your SD card out of your Wii, I'd suggest using the Wii homebrew browser right from within the Homebrew Channel. From the homebrew browser, you can download homebrew right to your SD card, from your Wii, over the internet. If you do use this generator initially, make sure you get the Wii homebrew browser, because if you don't, you'll have to pull your SD card out every time (which isn't fun).
Also, to avoid your console being bricked by a Nintendo update, make sure you don't have Wiiconnect24 enabled, and that you don't agree to any updates until the community is certain that it won't affect your console
Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into before you boot any homebrew, or install the homebrew channel. Your console could be bricked, even though the possibility is probably remote (I've heard of it happening to people) be careful. If you are a kid, and your siblings and/or parents enjoy playing with the console, you should stop to ask yourself what the heck you'd tell them if you happened to brick (if you don't know what brick means, it basically means kill, as in it will no longer work) their Wii doing something stupid. And yes, installing non-proprietary software via an exploit for the purpose of playing Wii tetris and Wii Quake, is stupid, relatively speaking, if it means you brick your console in the process.
Jewry @ Jul 28th 2008 11:13AM
I think it is actually impossible to brick your console with the Twilight Hack...
BananaBoat @ Jul 28th 2008 12:04PM
impossible? No. Improbable? Yes. It happens though.
The real problem is in loading the homebrew itself. While the homebrew channel and the twilight hack have been tested over and over and over, the lesser known programs haven't been, and are very susceptible to show stopping bugs because of it.
Google for "Half Bricked Wii's" and you'll see the most prevalent problem. Luckily there is a fix for most cases of half bricked wii's, but there are absolutely cases of completely bricked wii's out there that CANNOT be fixed, and in those cases you'd basically have to take your chances trying to get it replaced under warranty. I'm not sure if anyone has tried, but I doubt Nintendo would be too thrilled to get your console in the mail and find out that the homebrew channel was installed. Might be grounds for them not to replace your Wii. Either way, the risk is low, but it is absolutely there, and to tell people it's not would be foolish.
