Pentax rolls out another yawner: the 10MP M60 point-and-shoot
If the E60 had you dozing last night, you'll be conked out in no time by the time you finish reading this. Pentax is at it again, proving that point-and-shoot cameras can still be boring this day and age. The M60 tries to be fancy with a 10-megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD monitor, "approximately 36.5MB of built-in memory," movie / panorama modes, a variety of scene modes and smile detection capabilities to boot. Expect this one to arrive late next month in blue, pink and silver for around £90 ($179).

My sentiments exactly.... what's wrong with making a semi-affordable camera? And if it's boring, it probably shouldn't be on this site.
How dare this camera attempt or "try to be fancy" when Engadget has already deemed ye mundane.
BEGONE.
Get off your high horse Engadget.

Why is this boring? My camera doesn't have smile detection and is a 6mp for the same price - so should I not buy this one?

Why post this article if its not big news? or news at all?

What should they do to make this more exciting for you?

Megapixels are just marketing hype! The lens is the weakest link, not the resolution of the sensor. A friend of mine has a 6 megapixel digital SLR that takes SUPERIOR quality pictures than any of these 10 megapixel point-and-shoots because it has a better, larger lens.

And, along with the lens, a better, larger sensor :).
Which generally means a bigger camera too.

I was about to buy a 2004 6mp Pentax IST Ds , but then the price went too high on ebay because of all the other real photographers.

I have to second most posters emotions here. What would you be looking for in a camera where you wouldn't "yawn". Everything seems like it's yawnworthy these days for y'all.

I like how they say its gonna be a boring article in the title, I'd find it a little more exciting if it could record HD video.
Zach @ Jul 29th 2008 2:50PM
If it's so boring, why post it?

SOLD!!!
Oh, sorry, I thought it was a sales pitch. But's it was just an overly-enthusiastic blog post.

how hard is it to solder a 2gb microSD card into one of these cameras? seriously 36mb?
