Every Neonode N2 recalled due to reception problems
Hey, you remember the Neonode N2? The OG full-face touchscreen phone? Well, better cherish those memories, since every N2 is being recalled due to "reception problems." A fix is apparently ready to go, but seeing as we haven't heard a peep from Neonode since it promised us a totally new OS and handsets back at CES, we've got a feeling you might be better off swapping out handsets for a while -- besides, who still uses EDGE?

I do... (use EDGE). [sigh]
looks like a garage door opener.
when i saw it i thought
"my what an expensive garage door opener"
Your right. If people want a real multi-touch screen phone, just buy an iPhone. Not a "me too" clone.
To be correct they arn't really a iPhone (or iCracks) clone since they where ahead of Apple introducing a "touch" screen on a phone.
(the "touch" is since it at first wasn't a real touch sensitive screen but it used a grid of light beams that sensed the finger)
(sorry for the double post)
@Jubei
Interesting... According to the USPTO, Apple did NOT invent the flipping touchscreen so please shut the hell up!

Now can you please take your trolling to YouTube where it belongs?
@Yevon
Did I say touchscreen? No. Did I say Apple invented touchscreen? No.
Anyway upon closer inspection of that photo, does this device take "C" batteries? Probably the only explanation why its thick as a brick. Not a very innovative device.
@ B (and Jubei, yevon)
IIRC, IBM and Bellsouth put out a touchscreen operated phone that was a phone, a PDA, and played games. Since the internet (as we know it) didn't exist, it also had fax capabilities. The "Simon", I think.
Touchscreen operated smartphones have been on the market since 1994.

(*Apple fanboys need not click the link)
"Touchscreen operated smartphones have been on the market since 1994."
Strangely enough, they weren't taken seriously until June 29, 2007.
Jubei,
I'll tell you what. Justify your accusation that the N2 is an iPhone clone and we'll get off your back. Otherwise, stop being an ignorant troll.
@MacVicta
While your world may have changed after the introduction of the HTC Touch (I know, you really meant that Apple device), I can assure you that there was a prospering touchscreen market prior to late June, 2007.

Notice the manufacturers: Palm (notably successful), HP (very popular iPaq line), Samsung, HTC, and Sony. No wonder Apple decided to get into the market... Also notice how many offered 3G and GPS, back in 2006. I support your fanboism, but take off the reality-distortion field that blinds you and accept the truth - the now mature market for touchscreen smartphones was built over the last two decades due to the hard work of many software writers and their hardware suppliers.
Who still uses Edge? Bono for one.
Who uses Edge? Every single subscriber to T-Mobile, the country's fourth largest cell carrier, that's who.
And they are 4th for that reason.
Just FYI, not every T-Mobile subscriber is in the US and/or used EDGE. They are kinda like the 5th largest carrier worldwide.
I still use EDGE. I don't get a 3G signal on my 3G iPhone =(
I don't think there is such a thing as edge in Canada..
Yes we have EDGE. We also have 3g.
I use edge and i say fast enough for a phone.
I still use EDGE. And I'm damn proud.
aiming real high in life i see
Good thing the Free Software Foundation clowns tried so desperately to pimp this as a better iPhone alternative.
...no reception jail is a bit more of an immediate concern than the supposed "software jail" the FSF keeps going on about.
Is your brain on vacation? Dead? Never been there?
I believe the captain of his brain ship is drunk at the helm.

The Neonode N2 doesn't support EDGE.
aw damn.
oh, im over it.
Every (all twelve) Neonode N2s sold recalled due to reception problems...
What do they do? Recall them and never give them back? Didn't Neonode stop making this handset some time back? Doesn't really matter, those few people that had Neonodes can get an iPhone instead. That'll be a huge step up, cracks and all.
I use EDGE, it's not like there's any HSDPA where I live and I travel internationally, so CDMA would be stupid for me. Shut up about who's outdated and deliver the news like you do best. Also, that recall would mean getting what could end up being a completely different device, because the things are so rarefied.
Can I tether this to my Iphone and use it to run a null-modem Doom deathmatch?
Can someone tell me how to get to the Appstore on this? I cannot find the button...
too bad, it looked like an awesome fone ...
all them sidekick users use edge.
ALL YOUR SIDEKICKS BELONG TO EDGE!!!
