Sony Ericsson's G705 slider leaks onto internet, shows hope for the future
An undeterred Sony Ericsson appears to have a handsome new slider on its way out in the near future -- according to a slew of pictures leaked to the se4m forums -- meant to sit beside the previously spied (and supposedly forthcoming) Remi. The device -- dubbed the G705 -- will feature GPS, WiFi, a 2.4-inch display, a 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, 128MB of internal memory, and will run atop the A2 software platform. There's not a ton of info to go around right now, but if you hit the read link you can feast your eyes on a wide array of succulent photos. We're including another shot after the break, just in case you don't like traveling.

That thing is all kinds of fugly, like the LG Chocolate's ugly younger bother that won't leave you alone and is even worse looking because of it.

Its just a phone dude, its just a phone.
pmr @ Jul 30th 2008 1:38PM
With 100x the build quality of that crappy LG Chocolate garbage.

SE's endless innovation never fails to make me yawn.
Technex @ Jul 30th 2008 3:42PM
*YAWN* I agree.
Khattab @ Jul 30th 2008 10:22AM
I don't know what "hope" Joshua is talking about, it's the usual new exterior, that's it.
S/// = major fail (at the moment)
BTW: The pics have been removed, the link is correct.
Homeboy @ Jul 30th 2008 10:26AM
........in other words a new SE with a slightly refreshed UI theme. *yawn*
Sly Fox @ Jul 30th 2008 10:23AM
i don't know why every one is complaining about this phone. I think it looks reallly reallly good. The specs aren't bad either. Before we make any assumptions i want to see some samples from the 3.2 mp camera and see how the web browser is or else what use is the wifi with a crappy web browser.
That Fender Strat Guy @ Jul 30th 2008 10:33AM
You must be *really* easily impressed. SE has pinned all hopes on the X1 - these mid-range creations are purely to keep pouring whatever dwindling money they have left into the HTC boudoir.
Sly Fox @ Jul 30th 2008 10:37AM
no, im just saying overall it looks fine. there is nothing wrong with it and i think it looks good so stop whining.
That Fender Strat Guy @ Jul 30th 2008 11:07AM
Well, this does not affect me as I don't bother with sub-par tech. How is expressing an opinion on a once-great company whining? I detect SE fanboi-ism. Chill mate, and buy a decent phone.
Gus @ Jul 31st 2008 4:27PM
Who needs to chill, again?
Hamodeh @ Jul 30th 2008 10:25AM
why most of new SE leaked pictures have Arabic interface ?!
Cagrino @ Jul 30th 2008 12:37PM
Because the UAE is willing to pay top dollar for new toys. :-)
Nabil @ Jul 30th 2008 2:50PM
Nokia has been really dominant in the middle east, and I guess the other companies have realized that they have to come out with an Arabic interface if they want to compete in the Middle East.
The Cellphone market in the middle east rivals Europe's market, and the cell reception there 10x better than the US
Hernan Paredes @ Jul 30th 2008 10:59AM
looks very nice, comes with wifi, i really like. Hopefully it has bluetooth and an expansion slot, and i'm sold.
peternj @ Jul 30th 2008 11:02AM
I wonder how many other languages it supports?
AJ @ Jul 30th 2008 11:27AM
Where's Saad Rabia? :)
Haven't read Arabic in a decade, but looks like the carrier is 'Al Marasalah', which probably means that the pics didn't come from Dubai.
AJ @ Jul 30th 2008 11:30AM
Whoops - just looked at the menu of my w610i, looks like 'Al Marasalah' just means 'Messaging'.
Nabil @ Jul 30th 2008 2:41PM
No worries, I'll translate...
The first pic is an options page for the camera. It gives you the option of choosing 1,2,3 megapixels resolution for the image
The second pic is a "program menu" and you are right "Almurasalah" المراسلة means messaging or correspondence. If you notice, the messaging icon is selected.
Usually most phones sold in the Middle east are unlocked by default. They are more expensive that the US, but it's great to just easily find any phone you want unlocked.
AJ @ Jul 30th 2008 2:57PM
I know Nabil, plus you get a lot more to choose from.
Gavin Veasey @ Jul 30th 2008 3:13PM
These new phones all look like cheep to me. It seems like you can just snap this thing in half easer then with a flip.
guerilla999 @ Aug 2nd 2008 10:52AM
is it OSAMA's phone ?
trunk @ Jul 30th 2008 3:49PM
Rivals the market of europe? To be honest there is no market in europe, it's overly saturated, and phones are like baseball cards now..
the new market is latin america
Eraxes @ Jul 30th 2008 4:26PM
Just another piece of shit from sonyericsson like the others. I don't know how many booby dopeys are exist to buy this trash???
NightBlade @ Jul 30th 2008 7:16PM
Learn English first, complain baselessly later.
adcruz @ Jul 30th 2008 7:29PM
the camera pic jus says in arabic '3 megapixel', '2 megapixel' n '1 megapixel'
n the second pic of the menu dusnt say the carrier..it says 'al marasah' which means messages in arabic n its simple enough cuz the messages icon is highlighted!
ayesha @ Jul 31st 2008 12:08AM
Great innovation by sony ericsson, its really hits the market.
