You don't get it. The gamecube launched as the leat expensive console out there. Later on dropping even lower. In the US it was $199.95 at launch And towards the last few years it dropped to $99 and it was still at the bottom.
What he is saying is that hype makes the sales. It has always been true for pretty much every generation. Hype and established history changes the dynamics. The comments about it selling so well because of its price is nonesense.
