The percentage of electronics at the end of their lives which were recycled.
The EPA found that the percentage remained consistent from 1999-2005. Even as recycling rates went up, the amount of electronics reaching end of life outpaced the increase, leaving the figure static. (source: EPA, July 2008)

*Cue doctor evil voice "One Million to One contrast"
I'm just wondering what kind of ms these LCDs their making are getting.
What a bunch of marketing bs.
Truth.
From what I've read, every company has it's OWN way of measuring contrast ratio. I didn't fully believe it, but I recently (as in Tuesday) bought a TV. A Samsung 40 inch (the 330 model). It claimed 8,000:1. The TV was a total piece of shit (ugly, bad performance, etc) so I returned it for a 40 inch Bravia claiming 2,500:1. The Sony's black levels are far deeper and better.
On top of that, every LG I have ever seen looks like absolute garbage. So who cares WHAT they say at this point...?
Untruth.
If you new anything about image quality, you'd know that contrast levels and black levels are two completely different aspects of image quality. Additionally, no one should buy the lowest model of TV in a manufacturer's range and expect the image quality to be in an upper tier. I'm positive any Samsung in the 550 range could match and/or blow many Sony models away, and for less than a comparable Sony model
FYI:
brightness = black level
contrast = picture
Oh yeah, well I heard Sony is coming out with a HDTV with eleventy billion to 1 contrast. And Samsung is making a double infinity to 1 contrast HDTV.
@duh
I dunno. Judging by these...

...it seems like the contrast ratio would have a very serious effect on the black levels on a television set. EIther way, the picture quality is FAR superior in every respect, all things considered.
And I am comparing two televisions that are in the same price range with the exact same screen size. It's perfectly acceptable for me to put them side by side and declare a winner if I want to. It's a fair comparison.
LG came up with crazy contrast ratio every year.
...but not anymore?
man, i can't wait till this becomes a standard feature. infinite blacks and the such for under $1000 would be sweeeeeet.
hey take that racist slavetrader talk back to 1840, rube.
haaaaaaa ok I'm spent
lol wow. touche.
I think we need a new unit of contrast measure before we end up sounding like 6 year olds.
My TV has a 16 ga-billion to 1 contrast ratio!
....yeah rightttt and im santa claus...
maybe i am?
why don't they just buy you a box seat at a game instead?
the 9 series has 276 LEDs
the LG90 has 1,536 LEDs which will (potentially) have better contrast with white text on black
Wrong, the 9 Series has 276 LED Clusters. It is supposed to have over 2,000 total LED's.
Yeah the 9 Series is packing 2,160 LEDs IIRC.
Both TVs use them in clusters. Either way I have not seen any LG LCD that I would take over a Samsung, but I am interested in checking this thing out.
@konshuss
Best smart-ass reply I have read in quite awhile. Thanks for the laugh!
Is this the Scarlet TV they made a TV series about?
1,000,000 to 1 bullshit ratio.
I'll buy one when the price is under $2,000...
