LifeSource Wellness Connected family brings wireless health monitoring home
Giving mere mortals the power to monitor their own health at home isn't a shocking revelation, but LifeSource's new Wellness Connected family takes in-home status checking to another plateau. Three products in the line are being announced: the Wireless Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor, Wireless Precision Scale, and Wireless Activity Monitor. The trifecta utilizes FitLinxx's proprietary wireless technology in order to link together and provide users with information on blood pressure, weight, and "activity" that can be logged and analyzed on a typical computer. Regrettably, no pricing information was mentioned, but we get the sense that this trio won't be coming without a noticeable premium.

"won't be coming without a noticeable premium."
And, presumably, a year's free subscription to "Hypochondriac's Anonymous"
Yes, I know that this is supposed to help you 'monitor' your health, and that would generally be considered 'A Good Thing', but you can't help but see the pitfalls here.
There are program for people with heart failure which require the patient to weigh themselves every morning and evening to monitor sudden weight gain, which is a sure sign of worsening heart failure. A wireless system (instead of the modem based system Phillips has right now) would be a godsend to most of these people.
That said, there's always that 2% of humanity that washes their contact with Windex while the contacts are still in their eyes, so I have no doubt someone could do something stupid with this too.
SHOE *points*
It looks awfully out of place in that picture, its demonstrating that device, yes, but the other images are clean white, with white backgrounds, and they even got one of the prettiest laptops (Macbook Pro) for one.
Then there's this hideous brown shoe with hideous brown carpet..hmmm
you saw it, didn't you?
A while ago Qualcomm created a company called LifeComm, a MVNO for life-sciences / healthcare applications. Their services, according to this article http://www.internetevolution.com/author.asp?section_id=526&doc_id=147482&f_src=flffour are going to include cellular monitoring of glucose levels for diabetics and aerobic activities for people that are on a dieting.
In that article they talk about Microsoft and Google's initiative in that same industry.
Pardon me, is that an underskirt cam on that shoe? Damn those nasty old men..
