HTC report says Touch Diamond is coming to Sprint this month
Don't rule out the possibility that this is a complete and utterly disgusting fib, but a recent writeup in The China Post about HTC's financial situation very clearly states when the hotly-anticipated Touch Diamond is coming to Sprint: this month. If you're looking for the play-by-play, the article proclaims that the "company released its Diamond phone in Asia in June and will begin selling the handset through Sprint Nextel Corp. in August." Look, we've seen a CDMA version of this thing donning Sprint garb, we've watched it fall into the capable hands of the FCC and we know it has to arrive sometime. If all of this doesn't add up to Sprint getting the Touch Diamond in August, well, we'll let you do the math.[Thanks, Sumit]

Maybe this is the version of the Diamond Sprint is using http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/pda-king/article?mid=3835&prev=3868&next=3828
Best news I've heard all day. I can't wait to dump my Treo 700p and get this phone. I'm pretty happy with Sprint's 3G coverage and prices. It only costs me $15 a month for unlimited data from Sprint. My biggest concern with the Touch Diamond is the battery life. 900 mAh is half the battery capacity of my current phone. I hope the rumors of them increasing the battery capacity for the North American release of the Diamond are true, but I doubt it.
Sprint is doing a great job right now getting the best smart phones first.
Ha. This would have been the one thing that prevented me from dumping Sprint... provided it works with the regular Sero plans. Unfortunately, if this turns out to be true - it's too little, too late. Sprint/HTC really should have formally announced this before - oh, I don't know - July 11.
sprint is so awesome with sero. i hope sero is compatible with touch pro. i want touch pro not diamond kthx
My girlfriend wants a Diamond very badly. I'm considering cancelling her AT&T account so she can get one.
What's a girlfriend?
Ron, are you sure you are ready for that level of commitment?
I have been in contact with a Sprint account manager this last week and yes the diamond is coming to the sprint network next month
FORGET SPRINT!!! MAKE WITH THE AT&T CONTRACT ALREADY!!!!!!
Sources close to engadget claim this picture was taken with the infamous iphone 3g.
Might be the fact that the picture used is like a month old
It was a Mogul. You can see the phone's reflection in the screen, plus the guy who posted the picture originally said it was.
Does anyone have any idea what the price will look like WITHOUT a contract? Over or under $500?
Darnit, I just got the vogue touch in July with SERO....I'll just wait for Raphael then
One of my friends is one of the higher ups in Sprint's sales department and told me that the Touch will be comming this November to Sprint.
DAMN DAMN DAMN.
I justed spent 100 plus bucks upgrading the battery and sdhc card in my HTC touch. Hopefully this version will have and microsdhc port and not onboard memory. 4 gig is rather small by smart phone standards now. HTC is really sersious about making this phone a success they just released another rom update and I guess it has really improved it's performace. I would also love to see a touch friendly version of the zune cleint on this thing. Over the air subscription based music/podcasts would really give the Iphone a run for its money. I really think as the line between music ownership on on demand blurrs subscriptions will ultimately win out.
Thanks for the reminder, the wait for the touch pro was stating to get to me to the point where i started to seriously consider caving and get this model. SD slot is absent on this one but a microSD present on the touch pro.
Thank goodness I cant wait badA$$ phone on the most reliable network. For all those ATT lovers out there I actually enjoy getting my calls and the Rev A speeds by comparison to the Iphone 3g Zzzzzzzz speeds is a no brainer. Everytime I call an ATT subscriber and get that "the network is busy right now try your call again later" msg it drives me up the wall. And I'm not going to get into overpaying for unreliable service.
This is nice and all, and arguably the best phone currently out on the market, but I too like many others, am waiting for the Touch Pro.
Touch Pro not only has the slide out keyboard, but also a battery with twice the talk time, more RAM, and a flash for the camera.
Does anybody know if the Touch Pro is also coming out on sprint or is att swallowing that good phone too...
Sprint already is the first carrier scheduled to receive the Touch Pro, NOT ATT.
I have one, but bought an iPhone. The Diamond is not that much difference from the Qtek S100, S110, S200 or the HTC S710, S730 and TyTN II that I have used. All use Windows mobile which has some pros and some cons - but the cons are unbearable. So now my Diamond is a bluetooth HSPDA modem for my Macbook. Note to Sprint customers - don't expect it to be a jesusphone.
The iPhone is now my phone.
Ok, so I'm a Sprint user, and cry and wine about them as some may, they still have the fastest data network out, which unlike AT&T, won't be crippling the 3G component of this kickin' phone.
For those who want to learn more about the Diamond.
Here is a VERY thourough review done by Phone Arena.
It's about 7 pages long with lots of pretty pics and comparisons.

Adam
It's also coming to Telus on the 16th of this month
iphone sucks
I would say September 2nd is the Sprint release date. :) ............. my info is about as good or better than the article above, ..... hint, Live and work in Kansas City for a major cellular provider.
I live in KC as well and heard November :O
Xklark, you're a moron. Everything points to September, and no one is gonna believe one person that claims that its coming out in November. Anyway, it may very well be the Touch Pro coming out in November, as many analysts expected the Touch Diamond to be released 1-3 months prior the US debut of the Touch Pro.
diamond pro version will be available for purchase from sprint on sept 14th 2008 as per sales rep at sprint customer service
