Creative's 2GB / 4GB ZEN Mozaic DAP now available

Creative got a bit more creative with the ZEN Mosaic's name since we spotted it in Singapore last month, but the freshly rechristened ZEN Mozaic is now available (and in stock, just to be exceptionally clear) in the US of A for your purchasing pleasure. For those seeking a brief refresher, here goes: there's a 1.8-inch display (160 x 128 resolution), up to 36 hours of audio playback / 5 hours of video playback, support for MP3 / WAV / WMA / JPEG / BMP files, a 5-band custom equalizer, calender / contacts / task list and USB 2.0 connectivity. The oddly designed DAP can be procured in both 2GB and 4GB flavors (but only in black, at least for now), with the former going for $59.99 and the latter $79.99.[Thanks, Oscar]
I have no problem with the Zen MP3 player but how does the company go on?! I've never seen somebody with one and if I ever mentioned the name to somebody they wouldn't know what I'm talking about.
That's exactly what I thought! Where do they make their money exactly, and who decides to spend such a precious resource developing the weird and ugly design before us?

I haz one (a Zen Vision: M), so there's at least one sale...
I loved my Zen Vision:M, it played DivX, had amazing screen quality, and the video out was DVD quality...
But then I got a Macbook, and I enjoyed that more, and the only piece of software that could talk to the ZVM was JUST above useless.
One of the reasons Creative fails is because they don't have the foresight to take on the iPod on it's own platform. They have better specs at a better pricepoint but won't meet me halfway so I can buy one of their products
I used to have an Ipod. I got rid of it for a Zen and I Love it. However Creative do seem intent on preventing themselves from retaking the DAP crown. My Zen has a great option of increasing the memory with an SDHC card. I have a 8GB Zen with a 4GB card. This would be amazing and one massive plus over the ipods if only creative had not crippled it by not allowing the library to expand onto the card( the card is completely seperate memory and is updated by putting the zen into memory card mode!). Also, audio podcasts have to be converted to video podcasts in order to see them in the podcast directory and in the process they get corrupted so that the podcast stops before the end!. After contacting creative they suggested not converting it (well duh) and accessing it via the library instead as they have no intention of fixing the problem! As I said I love my zen and my girlfriends Zen Stone Plus as the sound quality is better than the ipod but I am now looking for another (non apple) DAP to move to but the choice in the UK is a little limited.

The market is flooded with DAP's and DAP Cellular Phones.
My cousin has a Zen Stone and I was underimpressed with it. Apple has stolen the thunder of the DAP market with thousands of different ipods at multiple price points.
The only people who don't buy iPods now either know the ipod doesn't have enough features for them or aren't suckered in to brand mentality.
you know, it is possible that people actually do prefer an ipod to the myriad of DAPs out there. you know people who aren't suckered into anti-brand mentality.
The only iPod that's any different than any other DAP is the touch. the rest have decent UIs, but that's about it.

Not true. They also play our locked in iTunes store tracks to keep us from switching to another brand. Kinda sucks...
Will, you can't let yourself get sucked into their marketing campaign and buy iTunes stuff just because it's there. Use some other service or iTunes Plus so it isn't protected/locked! I love Apple but I don't buy locked music from them just cuz I got an iPod!
BTW, you can just burn songs to a CD that are protected and then rip them so there won't be protection any more. (That still works, right?)
Who buys music these days anyway? :P
not that i'm implying anything about my personal habits for acquiring pleasing aural stimulation.

Screw the ipod, the new sandisk sansa fuze is literally the bomb, its an 8gb, same screen size as this piece of crap, the best part is u can add more memory via micro sd card, up to 8gb, who cares bout putting video, an mp3 player is basically just music!

I don't know what kind of idiot woud buy this (4gb at $80) when they can get an 8gb Zen X-fi for a bit more.

Apple only rules by momentum. Period. 7 years ago yes. They had the best of everything on the market. That was then.
Their GUI is NO better then everyone else's. In point of fact it sucks ass. Their hardware is in no way superior. That leaves hype and iTunes. iTunes is about all they have.
