Lenovo X200 tablet in the works?
Lenovo's dimunitive X200 finally made the scene just recently after hiding out in the shadows for a couple weeks, and it looks like it's got a little friend waiting back there as well -- some specs for a tablet version of the 12-inch ultraportable surfaced over the weekend. We're not taking any of this as fact -- the spec sheet showed up on the web page for the Hong Kong Baptist University, and it's accompanied by a picture of the regular X200, so it could just be a mistake -- but we certainly wouldn't say no to a 4-pound tablet with a 1.86GHz SL9400 Core 2 Duo and a 7-hour battery life for $1,339, so we'll see how this one plays out.

Hopefully Lenovo doesn't jack up the price when it releases in the US. I'll need this tablet by the first week of Sept.for Uni., I just hope Lenovo releases and ships it out by then.
its only got that little red trackpad thing? looks like it to me
The same site also has the full spec on the upcoming X200s (a lighter and thinner version of the X200):

Actually, that Hong Kong Baptist University is a treasure trove of Lenovo specs. For example, full specs for the upcoming 8.3 lbs 17" ThinkPad W700 with Blu-ray:

Sorry to spoil the joy guys, but that HKD price is University subvented price (in other words: University will pay the difference for their students, which they get back through tax deducts or some other ways) , as seen in the picture.
The retail price is HKD 18032, which is roughly around USD 2300. So I think in the US price will settle around 2.5K, and the same in Euros in Europe.
I know it sucks, but this is the reality.
if the X200 is going to retail for $1100 US in , how is the X200 tablet going to retail for $2500, you talking a $1500 market up for a tablet screen? i dont think so.
Are HK prices directly convertible to USD? European prices are definitely not (always higher in Europe).
I really wish they had an option for a higher resolution screen . Even a copy of Sony's 1366 x 768 would be welcome.
Actually when it really comes out in the US, the price won't be a couple hundred more than the current X61 line it's replacing, and with Lenovo always available online discounts, it won't be too bad.
Is Lenovo releasing an X200 tablet?
Yes.
They have to evolve the X61 tablet and just as the X61 is replaced with the X200, the X61 Tablet will be replaced with the X200 Tablet.
Yeah, I thought this was known a long time ago. This is non-news, but I guess Engadget doesn't pay attention to anything non-Apple.
Please, please have discrete graphics...
I hate to pop your bubble, but it'd prolly just have X4500 integrated graphics, which isn't half-bad (for integrated graphics). It can handle HD film and from what I've heard gets about 1000 in 3DMark06.
I'm kinda figuring it will, but one can hope, right? :)
No mention about the touchscreen. I hope they still would have the multi-touch option on a capacitive screen.
Just found out that Lenovo has posted the X200 driver download in support website.
When you zoom in on the picture of the W700, it looks like there is a funny big trackpad thing next to the usual trackpad.
Any ideas what that is?
These days, most Tablet PCs are only about 10 to 15% more than similarly spec'd conventional notebooks. Let's not compare a 3Lb tablet to a 6Lb laptop and expect them to have the same price.
I am holding on to some cash for the next best Tablet PC to purchase.
Will wait until October at the latest.
Thanks god I just purchased an X61 Tablet which has an excellent screen.
I have worked with 1400x1050 for several years now two Toshiba M200 and now an X61 and I wouldn't want to go down in resolution.
I use the laptop/tablet as my main workhorse and I would not buy a a screen with less resolution.
What is happening with the world? 4:3 format is excellent for work, but a 16:9 format is not.
It seems as I have to buy a few X61T now to save for later use as stupid as it sounds.
Toshiba did a stupid thing when making SXGA+ an option on their M400 now Lenovo make a mistake if they won't provide a computer with a decent screen for work. It seems as it is the media fanatics controlling the laptop market. A WXGA computer looks just like a cheap portable DVD player and I wouldn't want one for work.
