iPhone 2.0.1 breaking some carrier unlocks
Uh-oh, it look like it's not just the underground unlockers who're having problems with the iPhone 2.0.1 update's revisions to the 3G's baseband -- Vodafone customers who've paid to have their handsets unlocked are starting to report failures to connect to iTunes followed by the appearance of an "0xE8000001" error code. There are also reports from a handful of other carriers, but Voda's selling Steve's baby in 10 countries, so most of the complaints are from its customers. Other than that, there are some isolated reports of brickage, but we've mostly heard good things about 2.0.1, and our iPhones are definitely feeling a little better -- how about you?[Via TUAW]

I am with Optus and I was getting an error while trying to install a new carrier update after updating to 2.01.... Phone is working fine however.. So not sure what was in carrier update, but I ain't got it....
There is no sigs here. Take your spam URL else where.
I updated everyone in the office. No problems with 2, larger problems with another two that required me to reinstall 2.0 then upgrade again to 2.0.1
Optus user with unlocked phone. Updated to 2.01 and phone is still unlocked (tried phone with Telstra SIM and all working perfectly). thumbs up for this update from me!
I am also now unable to access my email after the update to 2.0.1. Oddly enough, I can't even add/remove/change the mail account configurations in the Settings widget. I had two email accounts configured prior to update, not sure if that was a problem for it. (One was disabled and one was active.)
I think that it broke because I tried to create an email with this picture attached: http://stores.augme.com/images/Robot%20Store%20Thumbnail.jpg
My iPhone 3G seems to be totally unable to open that high-resolution image. Does anyone else have a problem loading the above image? I didn't have a problem viewing it in Safari but if I save it and try to open from the 'Photos' widget I will sometimes get a freeze until the kernel's WDT kicks in and triggers a kernel panic. Other times it will freeze and then come back to life but it always messes up the visual effects in various ways. BTW - this happened on the iPhone 3G I bought 7/17 as well as the one they gave me yesterday as a replacement because the first one kept crashing. It should be no surprise that the new crashes just as much. (73 separate crash reports today all in the native iPhone apps running on a freshly installed iPhone 2.0.1) The 'Genius' kid at the Apple store assured me that my crashes are because I am 'doing too much with my phone'. Who knew that the stuff on the iPhone commercials is apparently too much for the actual phone to do?! If I had known that was too much, I sure as hell would not have shelled out $300.
bought the new 3g after already having the first version. Since getting the new phone and upgrading my older one to 2.0 I have been having an issue where when i create a new SMS for someone that i already have a thread with it doesnt automatically merge them like it used to. You may be wondering why I create a new text but when you have 30 threads and you want to send someone a message it is quicker to create a new thread and have them merge. Anyone else having this problem? I can verify that 2.0.1 does not fix it
Well at least now I can turn off alarms using the slider. On 2.0.0 I had to wait till the screen blanked out then use the lock button.
I hava Tim in Italy and I have the same problem with my Iphone 3G 16 Giga bought at a Tim shop for more than 500 euros
A lot of people are having 3g reception problems, the update didn't fix this. See here http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7754132#7754132
RIDICUROUS, I Say
Want an iPhone 3G unlocked sim-free without update problems? ... Why don't buy it legally unlocked?... from Italy...

I'm starting to believe that this is the 3G Network,or iPhone faulty Chip, or a combination of both. I started google maps - pressed the Locate Me button - it started searching, locating - eventually never found my location (with 3G Network ON).
I disabled the 3G Network, and tried Locate Me again - immediately it put a circle around the map identifying my general location.
i wonder if it is possible to Cancel my ATT service, and get Money Back for the iPhone.
