Lenovo's S10 netbook gets the hands-on treatment
Lenovo's S10 netbook might not be too daring in the design department, but it's still a pretty classy piece of kit -- mix that in with the $399 starting price point and Lenovo's marketing muscle, and we'd say that these first hands-on shots are just a prelude of things to come. Tons more shots at the read link.

That looks like an absolute winner. Hate to say it, but between this and the upcoming Dell machines, Asus is doomed.
But there are an estimated 265+ confusingly named Eee PC models out there right now! How can you compete with that kind of variety?
Oh, right. Dell will probably let you customize it right on their website.
...later Asus.
Asus is indeed in hot water. Their EEE line has the reputation, but their price is just more expensive than the others. a EEE 900 is 550, while the s10 starts at 400.
Hello? Asus
S10 would be something I would drool for if the keyboard is as good as the thinkpad
P.S. looking at the picture, I thought the chick is getting the hands-on treatment
I don't like Levono's quality. Dell's laptop isn't bad...
Way too early to count anyone out yet. Especially on price, as that's something that can - and will - be adjusted to match. While it's got the specs, the S10 doesn't have a lot going for it in the styling department. Ugh.
@bebop
Seriously? I think it looks fantastic.
@bebop
This is easily the nicest looking netbook I've seen yet. It's refreshing to see one come out that doesn't look like a kid's toy.
she made me give myself the hands-on treatment.
Too thick.
That's what she said.
That's what she said.
Really? she looks pretty average to me.
that's not what she said.
If you look at the specs of this machine, it says 1 inch thick. That's very thin. May be your eyes got cheated by the blown-up photograph
That's what I said about your momma.
Then I went anyway.
that's what she said
Thats what she said.
Well, at this stage companies are focusing to bring the price down not the size. I hope in a year or so we could see everyone shrinking down the thickness, which would even make these netbooks more portable.
sharp knees
That's not what she said.
review by cnet...crap
they are some fuckin stupid people
i trusted cnet sometime back but now they have become weird in providing reviews
wtf! that comment was supposed to go to Murphy Mac
CNET Taiwan is much better than the USA version.
Cnet notebook editor - Dan Ackerman (and his "pretend to be cool"accent)
hey pochi, weren't you lecturing me on proper adult behavior yesterday, hypocrite?
wtf my comment waas supposrd to go to murphy mac. Wow the whole joke is blown now.
@phanbouy:
That's what she said. :P
hey i'm all for crude jokes at the expense of flame baiters..
just sayin'. pochi's a hypocrite with a napoleon complex. that's all. it's ok, no one's perfect ;P
phanbouy you are right tell him who's boss
your comment was good he needed to be put in his place, you are the winner for sure
Yes, yes! Cheaper than the Wind, more attractive than the 1000H...
Uhm...but...does it come with a 128 gb SSD (-_-)?
haha, wow, that's so clever and witty that you made a whole separate account to try and defame me because you're too much of a chickenshit to even use your _regular_ account to debate me
Please keep all comments pertaining to the laptop.
Please don't. I love reading totally inappropriate comments about product models from my fellow readers.
Yes. Keep them you yourself. Fill this space with hilarious commentary.
More nipple, please.
You only see the nipple on the thinkpads...
...oh, I see.
"hands-on treatment" + picture of attractive asian girl? that's not going to happen.
funnily enough she's the product manager for the ideapad line not a model.
very niceeeeeee... and im talking about the netbook
Are we sure this isn't actually an MSI WIND under the skin? It's awfully similar.
Something has to explain why I can't buy a 6-cell MSI WIND for love or money in the USA.
I've tried FOUR times, and each time, the e-tailer is out-of-stock until "who knows"?
I guess America no longer has the marketing clout it once did. Apparently, WINDs are very plentiful in Europe.
Sigh...
They're pretty much all alike, design wise and specs wise; the price tag is better though (initially what the Wind was supposed to sell for, but it didn't happen).
Engadget to post more pics of Chinese product waifs.
That looks very nice. The weight is also nice, though I'm assuming that's with a 3-cell only. However, only 8GB SSD and only on the 9" model? That's a big lame. If only they would offer more options.... oh wait, that's diluting the brand, right?
That looks very nice. The weight is also nice, though I'm assuming that's just the chinese in her. However, only just a small rack. That's a big lame. If only they would offer more options.... oh wait, that's diluting the models, right?
Bravo, Bob, bravo.
The ExpressCard slot might push this above the others a lot of potential buyers: only the Mini-Note has a slot and its VIA C-7M is much slower than Atom (the difference seems to be smooth Skype VS none). Though the Gigabyte M912 does too and should be out by the S10 is.
This might actually be better than the Wind..
Lol....for a second i thought it said $10 laptop instead of S10....I was like......what?
she looks like a frog
Wow, my fellow Engadget readers are disappointing me lately.
Where's all the "I'd give HER the hands-on treatment!" comments?
Damn.
