Lightspeed Design / InFocus team up on DepthQ 3D projectors
Although high-end projection makers have been figuring out this whole 3D beaming thing for awhile now, Lightspeed Design and InFocus are looking to bring the technology to a wider audience with the introduction of its DepthQ stereoscopic 3D projectors. Available in XGA and WXGA flavors, these PJs promise "rock-solid, 120Hz stereo 3D at 1,280 x 720 or 1,024 x 768 resolution" and feature Texas Instruments' DLP / BrilliantColor technologies, a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and a total weight of just 6.9-pounds. Best of all, these undercut most other single-lens 3D projectors by coming in somewhere under $6,000 apiece, though exact numbers have yet to be disclosed.[Via AboutProjectors]

Excellent...we desperately need one of these, since every time I lay my current 2D projector down on a flat surface, I lose it.

HeeHaaa, funny and it must have passed right over the heads of many like it did me!

DepthQ? I think I could get a job naming these things.

They've had an 800x600 version for a couple of years now, but cost is still way too high, since you have to buy active shutter glasses for each person (and an ir setup that can reach everyone in the room). And yes, there's a high geek factor to the glasses.
I've got a Sharp xr10x that I found used for $400 which does this @ 85Hz. Doom 3 in 3D is pretty slick. The problem is finding updated drivers that support stereo, though that might change soon. mtbs3d.com's got the most info on 3D gaming, if'n you're curious...

If this is a 3D projector, shouldn't it have 3 resolution dimensions instead of the typical 2?

Funny. In fact, all TVs display 3D video: width x height x time
And DVRs can even time-travel.

"DepthQ(R) HD 3D projectors offer rock-solid, 120Hz stereo 3D at 1280x720 or 1024x768 resolution. These bright, professional-level 3D projectors can easily display 12 ft (3.7m) diagonal 3D high-definition images using the latest Texas Instruments DLP(R) and BrilliantColor(TM) technologies for stunning colors and a 2000:1 contrast ratio."

PJs here means pijamas not Pro Jectors.

Think of those movies projected in 3-D that require the blue/red lens glasses vs. Minority Report holograph. This is with glasses, still projected onto a flat surface, I think. I'm no expert. Anyone else know better?
