How to get the most out of the 2008 Olympic Games
The 2008 Beijing Olympics -- the first covered entirely in high definition, with super slow-motion cameras and 3,600 hours of coverage, online and on TV -- approach. Think you're ready to get the most out of the Games, and maybe, just maybe catch the event you actually want to watch live as it happens? Head over to Engadget HD and get the full rundown on the different ways the Games are coming home and how to take advantage of them all.

HD doesn't matter if everything is covered in a layer of pollution.
I'm boycotting this year's Olympics. It was a terrible mistake to allow Beijing to be the host. They've broken so many promises and spewed so many lies, that to give them my patronage would go against everything I stand for.
No, I'm not opposed to taking their money or buying goods from them. If they can manufacture them more cost effectively than anyone else, then so be it. That doesn't mean that I have to like them.
Staying on topic and out of troll territory,
If you happen to be living in Toronto, you can get a cheap antenna and even rabbit ear antennas, point it at the CN Tower and run it to your ATSC tuner. It should give you an uncompressed broadcast of CBC in 1080i. There are also multiple broadcasts for Canadians on cbc.ca but those are wmv streams in standard def.
Everytime you watch Beijing Olympic footage you are supporting human rights violation on a huge scale. Boycott it - but as you say, it is now impossible to avoid buying goods made in China. Sadly, China has become a source of near slave labour to satisfy Western requirements for more and more stuff.

In the 2000 Olympics we moved whole suburbs of marginalised and poor and homeless to make sure no photos or reports were leaked out to the world. That way it showed the world how rich Australia was. We also changed our transport routes to accomodate for the 2-3 weeks of visitors to make sure they did not go near any of the "bad" suburbs. I did not see any reports on the problems associated with our indigenous groups that have been eliminated or transferred to "other" areas. We now have a private security system that "moves on" our homeless from the prominent areas of our cities. So please, no need to be too hard on China as I believe LA also had similar problems to cover up.
WELL SAID MARKO!
