After spending a few minutes with it, there's no question to us that the
Touch Pro is HTC's most impressive handset to date (even
if you count the
Xperia X1). Okay, the phone is still a bit thick (roughly the same as a
Tilt), and there's no 3.5mm headphone jack, but it's got a very small footprint and a very comfortably proportioned keyboard. We can also really definitely appreciate the lengths HTC is going to trying to make Windows Mobile a bit less doggish these days -- but were they to spice up the Touch Pro with a capacitive touchscreen and Android, HTC
might just have a game-changer on their hands.
Well...
1) better keyboard
2) better UI
3) Better processor
4) More RAM and ROM
5) Flush, VGA screen
6) More attractive (In most people's eyes, that one is subjective)
7) HSDPA 7.2 rather than 3.6
I am really going to need to see a X1 vs. Pro match up.
What is the big fucking whoop about a capacitive touch screen?
Multitouch isnt the fucking holy grail.
I hope it's a good product, but I don't have very large expectations. I got myself one of the first HTC Diamonds out, and it was gorgeous, but as soon as it started working, my hopes were killed. The software was amazingly slow, I had to reflash it with a different rom to speed it up even a little bit. The interface was still TERRIBLY laggy, and after dropping almost 800$ on the diamond after 4 weeks, it's sitting in repairs (6 week repairs) because the damn thing had a hardware problem (I even reflashed it back to original rom and radio, both signed).
Windows Mobile was annoyingly slow. No, it was painfully slow. I don't think you people understand how terrible it is. I would never ever go with an Iphone, but I couldn't help it. Even though I hate the iPhone, in the past week that I've owned it I've never had a single problem, ever. Granted there are some features I wish it had, but i'm willing to give those up over the features the iPhone does have and does them each very very well. Where as the HTC WM 6.1 may have TONS of features, but they are full of bugs, and terribly laggy even on such a powerful processor.
Sorry, that's my rant, my iphone 3g sits on my table, while I wait for my HTC Touch Diamond to come back from repairs so I can sell it on ebay I guess. And I couldn't be sadder for the shape of Windows Mobile.
Ummm,
All of your complaints regarding the responsiveness of the Diamond were addressed with the latest firmware/ROM.
The Diamond as well as the Touch Pro by all accounts operates very smoothly now, with virtually no hiccups in responsiveness/performance -- which is more than can be said about the iPhone.
Unfortunately, I had the latest firmware already. And it was only faster because they took the animations out of the damn phone. And that still didn't matter, using almost 50-60% of the phone's ram on START was TERRIBLE. And it got slower and slower over time.
I'm damn sure Touch Flo was awesome, however, as soon as you entered any WinMo applications, you could've made a sandwich in the time it took to start. And i'm talking about the 1.93 firmware that I had as soon as it came out. I was all over XDA developers.
Unfortunately, I cannot convince anybody not to waste money. But I had a terrible experience, good luck to those that have a better one.
the built in keyboard comment to me is a lot like... which guy has beefier hardware in the underoos.
the difference here is that the hardware isn't required to get the job done well and still looks good, if not better.
and it doesn't come in frickin' gray... and i'm kinda sad they removed the comment from the long poster with poor grammar... cuz the comment after mine makes me look real bad... and it's not like i point the blame at our now invisible friend.
My only issue: No scroll wheel.
I have grown to LOVE the scroll wheel and OK button on the side, Blackberry like, on my Mogul. Its a great one hand interface for common items. Or scrolling through news, etc.
I really wish they would have included it
Hey Fozzy Bear, is that your wife on your website? Cause I showed her my HTC phone and she still gave me a BJ and had sex with me. Guess it's not such a bad phone after all...
i like what i see in the touch pro--and i can live without a dedicated audio port--but where's the north america friendly hspa bands!?
I'm assuming Sprint is discounting Mogul and replacing with Touch Pro. Does that mean Mogul owners will get touch pro as replacement if lost or stolen Mogul?
HOW ABOUT WE START TALKING ABOUT THE PHONE
AND NOT COMPARE IT TO THE IPHONE
CAUSE THE FRIKKIN IPHONE IS SH!T. LITERALLY SH1T
Mmm, talk to me when the iPhone stops growing with it's app store and updates to make everything run great. 1.1.4 was a fantastic firmware, and 2.0 will reach there soon. So, all in all, lemme know when it turns into "SH!T or SH1T" and we'll talk.
Back to the subject, I'd love this phone, I think it will be a great phone. I'm really looking forward to android too!
I've been wathcing the whole Touch Diamond and Touch Pro development for along time now and the Touch Pro is still my permier candidate for my next phone, however, I'm still puzzled what happened to eGPS...this was actually one of the main reasons why I preferred the (unreleased) Touch Pro to the (equally not available) SE Xperia X1.
Even on release day of the Diamond there was still a lot of talk about eGPS, then suddenly all went quiet and I haven't heard anything but "aGPS". This seriously bugs me since the features of eGPS were very very interesting...especially since my current GPS smartphone has big problems finding and holding onto a GPS signal even in moderately open areas...
Does anyone know what happened to eGPS? Or was it just a wil guess somebody came up with or a typo or something???
HTC are the manufactures of sony X1

Android has ad software on the phone. It is now dead to me.
sir, you are an idiot.
a 'must have' gadget!!
I might get one of these.
I'm starting to hate my iPhone.(and my glyde)
haha
I'll buy it tommorrow.
It's for $950 on ebay (I think) but,whatever.
Nice phone though.
Talked to Sprint last night. Releasing TOUCH PRO NOVEMBER 2nd
