iHome ships rotatable iH41 iPod alarm clock
We've heard about iHome's twistable iH41 since CES, but it looks like the outfit finally got its act together and began to ship these out. Designed specifically for the iPod touch and its variable aspect screen, this unit can be flipped for easy orientation switching that enables users to view widescreen videos while it's docked and charging; when rotated, the digital clock display will also adjust to "complement the position of the unit." Notably, there's no mention of iPhone / iPhone 3G compatibility, but you do get a handy remote thrown in should you decide to cough up $79.99.

i guess if it rotates fast enough the iH41 could blend things...

Awesome! Perfect to use when watching podcasts on the bed. Too bad there isn't a similar one for my Zune 80.

That thing you see there at the base looks to me like a standard Universal Dock Adapter, albeit black. Switch it out for the one that came with your 3G and you should be golden.

Where's the twisting action. This thing just flops to one side, there is NO twisting to this. They are wrong. It neither twist's nor rotates. Something they can now do on my finger!
EPIC FAIL!

It looks like the circular display rotates or something.

Would it really of been that hard to put some speaker shielding in? They were -this- close to having the perfect iPhone dock. Ah well, if you turn on 3G there's less GSM buzzing anyways.

Check out:
Sony ICFC1iPMK2 Speaker Dock and Clock Radio with iPod Dock
It came out late June, it has build in shielding, and got an A- from iLounge. I just ordered one from Amazon for $88 shipped. According to the reviews, it works great with the original iPhone, and the 3G, and doesn't display that "Device not compatible" error.

It'd be cool if you could snooze by rotating it. I have trouble finding snooze some mornings.

Dare I say - who cares?
Uh? @ Aug 11th 2008 11:03AM
Me.

I love things like this that rotate and what not depending on your mood. I will be getting one for my ipod touch.

Ah the iHome! But where are the windows?
James @ Aug 11th 2008 1:40PM
That iPod touch doesn't look like the current one. It looks a little more glossy, and the edge looks like black plastic from the new iPhone. Anyone with me? Take a closer look.
alastarwaterwolf @ Aug 11th 2008 1:57PM
It works with the iPhone. If you go to the site and look at their gallery, it has the iPhone in the system rather than the iPod.
brian @ Aug 11th 2008 3:44PM
But wouldn't the iPod fall out or possibly break the dock connector?
puhsitch @ Aug 11th 2008 3:52PM
iHome has been putting out some pretty interesting designs lately. It's a shame that they all sound like crap.
