Yeah, we've seen the cart come before the horse before, and such is the case with NZXT's Avatar gaming mouse. Shortly after being
previewed, the outfit has done its duty and made things official. Specs wise, we're looking at 7 customizable buttons, a 2,600DPI optical sensor, 4-speed DPI switch, ambidextrous design and a rubber grip to keep your palm secure even when the sweat really gets to pourin'. It's available now to challenge your
Razer for $59.99.

Not a bad looking mouse, but I think I will stick with the Razor line.
Nytrojen @ Aug 11th 2008 8:09PM
Lol... what an emo response
xValentine @ Aug 11th 2008 9:25PM
It's RAZER not RAZOR.

If you start sweating while playing a computer/console game, you need to seriously stop.....
It either means you are very overweight and breathing is an exercise for you or you take bits of data making pretty pictures on a screen a little too seriously.
Stevo @ Aug 11th 2008 3:59PM
The first time I played Wii tennis I was sweating. The Wii is a console.
kjb434 @ Aug 11th 2008 4:03PM
Stevo,
Wii was intended to make you move.
I'm calling out people who just sit there with a hand on a mouse like this and sweat from just clicking away and getting way into the game.
I sweat playing the Wii too, but considering the gameplay actually involves physical activity, it should be expected. Same with Guitar Hero/Rockstar type games.
thatrotierkid @ Aug 11th 2008 4:15PM
while i totally agree with you on people getting out of breath and sweating heavily while play video games is a little ridiculous, some people just have sweaty hands. i used to have that problem while playing my game boy color. for some reason having my hands on that thing made them sweat like crazy, even when i wasnt into the game that much. also, at the time, i could run a 7min mile so that wasnt the issue there either. nothing sucked worse than my thumb slipping off the A button during an intense battle with Ganon
Richard @ Aug 11th 2008 4:43PM
Grip a mouse, or any other object, for a while and the heat from your body is bound to make your hand sweat at some point. Doesn't mean you are fat or out of shape... just means you have body heat. As every human should.
Jarhead2012 @ Aug 11th 2008 5:18PM
are you bashing people whose hands sweat? because that's just sad. Holding any object for a prolonged period is going to make you sweat because it will raise to your body temperature and then won't cool your hand anymore, causing your hands to sweat to cool themselves down.

i know as a gamer i refuse to use anything but a cordless mouse. do any of you use a corded one regularly for gaming?
zomg0t @ Aug 11th 2008 4:02PM
My understanding was that corded mice have significantly (for extreme gamers at least) lower response times, allowing for faster reactions. I probably wouldn't notice a difference, but I haven't heard of other gamers claiming that wireless mice are better than wired mice.
Clasifyd @ Aug 11th 2008 4:05PM
I, actually, am at the opposite end of the spectrum. I refuse to use a cordless. You never know when the battery will drop to 'that point' where the mouse doesn't function quite like it should. I'd rather not have that happening in the middle of a game. An extra chord running to the back of my machine is a minor inconvenience, as far as I'm concerned.
andrew oh @ Aug 11th 2008 4:07PM
wait did you mean that as a gamer you don't use anything but a CORDED mouse? wireless mouse has a history of bad response times. i'm quite sure this is not the case now.
quomen @ Aug 11th 2008 4:23PM
I'll take my MX518 over any of these mouses.
Kamokazi @ Aug 11th 2008 4:53PM
Many gamers seem to prefer a corded mouse, because for the longest time the wireless mice used radio technology that caused latency issues.
Nowadays, higher-end mice from Logitech et. al. use nicer 2.4ghz radios that send updates faster than USB 2.0 is even capable of. So unless you run into interference issues, cordless is just as good as corded.
Ghen @ Aug 11th 2008 5:00PM
As for response times, I get about a .04ms difference between my G7 and a regular wired $5 mouse.
Now, cost may be a difference but I don't think so.
Brian @ Aug 11th 2008 7:31PM
How could you use a cordless mouse for competitive FPS? I have a hard time believing you.
Razer DeathAdder is win (period)
Technex @ Aug 11th 2008 8:47PM
I've not found a better setup than a Everglide mat, Logitech G5 (w latest firmware) and the Mouse Bungee V2.
Smooth as cordless, fast as anything.
Been playing CS:S for around 6 years.
PlopperZ @ Aug 11th 2008 9:01PM
I use a corded Apple Mighty Mouse. Which has gotta be the worst thing possible to use. A track pad would be better.
@Brian
There was once a time before bluetooth, where we had to play games using a corded mouse, somehow we survived, somehow.
James @ Aug 11th 2008 4:05PM
real gamers know that corded mouse > cordless
Budweyers @ Aug 11th 2008 4:05PM
I've never used a wireless mouse for gaming, I just don't trust the response time compared to a wired one. If you look at the market too you'll notice most gaming mouses are all wired still.
Redbeaver @ Aug 11th 2008 4:07PM
uh... what??? most gamers that i know would NOT touch a cordless mouse.......
....personally, i wouldnt either. the tiny lag kinda bothers me on fast-paced action, tho works just fine on MMO or what not... so i grabbed a razer and never looked back. in terms of tangling the cable, most gamers that i know of have the sensitivity all jacked up too... so....
gamers refuse to use anything but cordless??
what kind of game do you play? like... seriously.... (no sarcasm, im just downright curious)
James @ Aug 11th 2008 4:08PM
real gamers know that corded mice > cordless
Richard @ Aug 11th 2008 4:46PM
I prefer corded mice when it comes to gaming. Much better response time... and I don't have to remember to charge the damn thing!
Rich Bar @ Aug 11th 2008 4:50PM
nobody wants your stupid dogtags
PC @ Aug 11th 2008 6:40PM
The response time of a Logitech G7 cordless mouse is as good as any corded gaming mice available. If you say other wise you're lying or can actually see light waves/particles move across the room when you turn the lights on. Battery/weight issues are the only real reasons I could see someone not using it for FPS gaming. Also, why don't professional console players use corded gamepads over cordless for the 360 if response time is an issue with 2.4ghz wireless controllers?
JAY JAY @ Aug 11th 2008 6:41PM
The mouse would last longer only if it had atomic power.
Bouille @ Aug 11th 2008 8:01PM
I'll stick to my Diamondback. Speaking of Razer mice, did anyone notice that the entire packaging and marketing of this mouse is VERY similar to that of the Razer products?
Glenn Lackey @ Aug 21st 2008 2:08AM
Its lefty friendly.. so I am sold . I have about 3 razer mice , habu , sidewinder.. and the g3 by logitech. But the G3 is the only mouse where the buttons are perfectly located for a lefty, so I use it mostly. I am buying 3 of these mice because me , my daughter and son are all left handed. This mouse looks like the buttons are easily accessable for left handers,
