There aren't exactly all that many
details left to announce, but Verizon has just gotten official with its late to the party
Visual Voicemail service which, for the time being at least, is only available on the
LG Voyager. As we had heard previously, the service will run you an extra $2.99 per month on top of your usual bill, and you'll be able to store up to 40 messages for 40 days, with an option to create up to 10 greetings and 20 distribution lists. Unfortunately, Verizon didn't take the opportunity to announce any firm plans for a roll-out to any of the other phones supposedly
in line to get the service, with it only going so far as to say that additional devices will be getting it in the "coming months."
Really??? They're going to make you extra for this? Phone companies really don't care about their customers.
My Girlfriend and I have been talking about something like this for MONTHS
Just wondering.... I remember during the iPhone keynote hearing Jobs talk about how they have applied for so many patents... was Visual Voicemail one of them? Does Verizon pay a monthly fee to AT&T? Or Apple?
Would seem to be to Apple since AT&T (to the best of my knowledge) hasn't leveraged Visual Voicemail across their other mobile phones...
I just think 2.99 for this service is more then i would pay. it sounds about right when you pay for storage space and the sending and reciving ect. ect. ect.
the real question here that says weather i think it is a rip off or not is that with their new 1.99 per MB bull crap, will i have to pay for the data on top of the visual voicemail if i dont have the V Cast pack?
As mentioned earlier, VVM is included on Sprint's Instinct (works well BTW...) at no additional charge. I'm not sure if that is because of the need to have a, "everything", or unlimited data & message shared plan. Maybe Verizon is offering it without needing a data plan?
Once verizon gets the iphone (fall announcement for next year), that will be the second phone to support VVM. Only so many phones can support VVM.
Verizon gets VVM, the next logical step for them is to announce the iphone in the fall for release possibly early next year...Jan or so. Can't release it before then. Verizons iphone will hopefully have video +/- A2DP....
Just a fantasy....I can keep dreaming, can't I.
I admit that would be pretty cool, but seeing at how Verizon gimped the awesome Touch diamond, I doubt they would allow a2dp without charging $9.99 for it.
