In case there was any lingering doubt that the
Treo Pro (alias Treo 850) was real -- and there probably shouldn't be, considering it
got snapped all the way back in May -- this round of non-blurry (dare we say artistic?) shots should pretty much seal the deal. The glossy shell, promise of a 320 x 320 display, and a general acknowledgment of circa-2008 industrial design definitely have us feeling just a little less pessimistic about Palm's prospects right now; if anything, it makes us wish they had some
Android kit up their sleeves rather than slaving away on the thus-far vaporware
Palm OS 2. As WinMo goodies go, though, this thing looks like it's ready to hang with the
best of the
best -- so bring it on, Palm. A legion of fans with well-worn
750s awaits you. In the meanwhile, check another shot after the break.

It has wifi!
"no improvement over the Treo 650!"
You got to be kiddin.
There is Wifi. Maybe you missed the earlier post which mentioned a separate Wifi power button on the side of the device.
Who said this is gonna be on sprint? This is the Treo Pro. The 850w is gonna be on sprint. The blue one.
Looks good to me, a step in the right direction!
Ugh, WinMo again? I have a Treo 800 and Windows Mobile is a freaking abomination. It's at least 4 clicks to do ANYTHING. My 755P was bulkier and locked up every 30 seconds or so, but at least the interface (I know, the 4+ year old interface) was clean and USABLE. Somebody please tell me Palm plans on putting the PalmOS on one of these new hardware designs...
OMG A FLUSH SCREEN??
Exactly!!!!! I'm really surprised you're the first person (I see) to have mentioned that.
I'm am really happy for Palm. This device looks much better designed for a change. I mean, they've wasted space on the front when there could've been a larger screen; it's a little annoying to me. But, I mean, it's logical to assume they might have opted for a smaller screen to hit a lower price point and to compensate for toll the inclusion of 3G and WiFi would have on battery life.
Good job Palm! *gives cookie* Now divide it evenly.
I dont understand why Palm makes their hard buttons so big, You could get maybe another .25" of screenage if they made them a bit smaller.
So the fact that the screen is flush indicates to me that it will be a touchscreen with no stylus.
Only problem I have with that keyboard layout is dialing those spelled out phone numbers like: 1-800-EAT-SH#T. Where on the keypad can one see the corresponding letters? It defeats the purpose to have to use the keypad on screen to dial when one has physical keypads available. They should include the letters on the keys - no matter how small (I have perfect sight anyways).
If I'm not mistaken, it shows that in the dialer program. At least, that's how Garnet and WM Standard handle it.
At www.ubertelecom.com they have great deals on Treos. The Centro is free and still has a $100 rebate but I ended up by going with the HTC for only $50. Sorry Palm but I had to retire my 650.
