Sprint readying a red HTC Touch Diamond?
We won't even front with you -- we have some serious doubts about this one, but with all those other red handsets that have emerged on Sprint over the years, we suppose that image above has a sliver of credence. We've no details whatever outside of two more shots of the red HTC Touch Diamond (or Victor, to be proper) in the read link, but these could very well be someone's best shot at using Photoshop to gain 15 minutes of internet fame. What say you, dear readers? Real or fake?

why not go red. i like choice
COMMIE!!!
Assuming both Sprint and Verizon pick this one up, I can see Sprint going for a "red" version to make a distinction between the two, especially since (rumors be true) Verizon will be getting the original "Diamond" design version (Victor is the one with the plain back, yes?)
Of course, the irony would be that Verizon is the "red" company lol.
I for one welcome the HTC Touch Diamond Communist Edition...
In Soviet Russia, Diamond touches you!
Classier than magenta, imo.
@ The Beef Machine (lala lala la)
In Soviet Russia Diamond kills you!
i like the design, not the software. the dream looks better though
And you know what the Dream looks like how?
Engadget covered it

Keep up bro
ima say fake
tho kyle has been known to make mistakes.... from time to time...
Am i the only one who saw the "ROFL" written on it?
looks real to me, why not.
Lets hope they leave the touch pro alone... this also cuts down on the selection of colors i can theme my phone with. I cant imagine showing off my new green displayed red backed phone to anyone
You could show it off to Santa.
I hope they keep the original colour, red would just look ridicules
*Ridiculous, that is....
I wish they would allow comments to be edited by the OP
Will AT&T carry this?
The balck seem to be the best colour, why change that.
Real
The guy who produced the first sprint branded photos of the HTC Diamond (victor) told everyone on the forums (ppcgeeks.com) that the back was flat (much like the telus version) and it was a "BURGUNDY" color on the back.
Here is the link to the post
The post which included the first images of the Sprint Branded HTC Diamond

The post in which he brings to point the "red" back

Here are other post where another user with inside knowledge bring to point the "burgundy" back

So this is very real.
I seriously am liking this red design, but seeing as i'm on att, looks like i'll just have to wait for the touch pro.
I believe this is real. If you remember back a couple of months ago there was a leaked image of the Sprint Diamond/Victor that was a bad picture taken on a Mogul that was posted on ppcgeeks then put up on every blog out there. The guy that posted that picture said then that it had a rubberized flat back instead of the iamond back and was red like the tro 755p. It looks like he was legit.
I wish they would just stop messing with this phone and release it here already. If they were going to change anything with this phone they should have added a micro SD slot or a 3.5mm jack. I really don't understand why they would remove the iconic name and design from the Diamond phone? Does Sprint understand anything about branding? The plain red back makes it look cheap and toy-like to me.
why do none of the good phones come to verizon..........
Dear Engadget,
I suck at photoshop.... and since you obviously don't keep track, this adds up to a few more than just "15 minutes of fame"
Let me help jog your memory...

nice menu for the likes of sprint... if this is real I mean c'mon the full side view pic looks super fake and photo shopped as does the reflection on the full frontal view of the phone oh yeah and btw EVERY PICTURE SAYS ROFL ON IT!!! wtf
Screen images simulated.
k why r peeps bashing sprint I have it and i love it, reception is great customer service only sucks someitmes and thats when I get soembody with an accent which has happened to me way more times on my previous verizon crapphone than on my sprint-touch.
you know what verizon is the color of blood and spritn is the color of light so luke will you join the darkside or the light side and be a bamf and kill darth vader... i think I will stick with being a bamf cuz i n every story the antagonist always loses :-)
it's definitely real, having held it in my hand (I don't work for sprint, although I know someone who does)
if you hit the read link, the first pic at the top does not look like it is of the diamond, but of the pro, no?
faker than grandpas teeth
Well, as long as you don't "front with me", I think we can still bump knuckles, yo.
Why is the 1st picture on the link a touch pro and the others diamond??? The side view doesnt look right anyway.... Its fake
The phone is real. I've touched it.
well this is t-mobile uks version of the touch diamond, flat back & all that dullness.
http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/shop/business/mobile-phones/phones/pay-monthly/t-mobile/mda-compact-iv/overview/
strangly the keys on the face are swapped round on the t-mobile phone to this supposed sprint version but it seems to be the same phone.
i guess that this having a grey back does meen there could be different colours, even if those red photos look like something i would mock up, & ive never even seen photoshop!
Has anyone else noticed that if you zoom in on the picture that is on the interface...it has writing on it saying "ROFL" that to me makes me think that it is fake....
Yes, I noticed. I was scrolling through the comments to see if anyone pointed out that obvious fact. I'm surprised you were the first considering how meticulous to detail engadget readers tend to be in attempts to out fakes.
It's also on the third pic (not in the same location).
If you noticed that the guy who posted those pics on sprintusers name is ROFL. So maybe he was just putting his signature on the pics for credit.
umm theres a hangman in the picture! look closely!
engadget just got FAKED!
(look at the guys right hand, on our left)
wow you guys are morons it says r0fl cuz thats my nick on here and sprintusers
didn't notice. didn't look. but i see now.
Don't worry i noticed it before you, but i am surprised no one else did.
damm sprint is getting the version with the plain back
just another way of disapinting the people damm u sprint
if the touch pro dosent have the diamond thing i kill myself lol
Nice that's one less person I have to wait in line with for a Touch Pro.
It's true.
I've HELD it.
Considering the "ROFL" clearly written on each photo...um...I'm gonna go with FAKE!
