Indilinx and Mosaid aim to squeeze 600MB/s out of SSDs
Indilinx just recently caught eyes with its Barefoot solid state drive controller, which has reportedly shown a read speed of 230MB/sec. Merely days later, it's already talking about the next best thing. Said firm, along with Mosaid, is preparing for a third-generation of the controller for the SATA 3 interface, which will provide a mind-boggling 600MB/sec. Unfortunately, no other details were provided, but just in case you were terrified that the internal drive you purchase in 2013 wouldn't transfer files any faster than the one you're using now, at least you've one less worry on your mind.[Thanks, Johnny]

I think it's great.
bleh
Me to, other than the fact that the motherboard that the AMD uses is nearly double the size of the intel motherboard which would make it harder to build home theatre pc's.
yay! ... wish i could afford one =(
now i can transfer my porn 10 time faster
Your just saying that because you want a 'high rank' on your comment
seems like it worked..
Am I the only one who thought that _before_ reading the comments?
Yes finally! I hope they will make SATA 3 interface soon!! I really need speed on my Hard Drive's right now!! I've got too many HD content that's making me go crazy with the slow speed right now!! lolz
Its a common misconception that a faster interface = faster data rates. This is only true if the device is capable of those data rates. At the moment normal HDD's and SDD's cant even max out the SATA2 interface. We will have to wait for 20k RPM or lightning fast SDD before we can benefit from these interface advances.
If only SSD's weren't so expesive...
I misread the article at first and wondered why Mossad were diversifying.
Note to self - don't use the reply button to post!
Yeah, I thought the Mossad was still up to it's tricks in creating warefare in palestine. Guess they're slowly moving into the computer hardware ind. ;)
sweet if my internet was ever that fast i could actually download a movie a second
sighs
I always read "Indilinx" as Indilinux which makes me think of bad lo-fi music and grainy photo wallpaper on a Linux desktop. Just me?
I didn't see anything in that article that said the pair are creating 600MB/sec capable flash SSDs. It simply said that they are working on SATA III (aka SATA 600) controllers...
Soon the drives will be faster than the RAM was on pentium3 systems, weird and yet about time.
