iPhone firmware 2.0.2 is out... and angry

Update: Well we've got the new firmware up and running, and it's true -- those bugs have been fixed. Which bugs? Well, it's still hard to say, but our voice suddenly sounds deeper, and we've noticed improved grammar during calls.
Those Apple guys must be wondering... "We didn't fix anything. Then how are these people getting these... It's a Miracle!"
My iphone works great rarely loose 3g and when i have weak 3g signal its as good as full bars although some places in plano texas. Although have spoty 3g ln my school my brothers iphone works great no problems sometimes it does go from full bar 3g to edge but quickly switches over. My calls are all crystal clear and its been a while since call failed pops up and when 2.1 comes out ill be a ver happy camper with the new features... love my iphone 3g best phone on my book
Ehhh, only thing I noticed different is there isnt a 1-3 second lag when browsing through contacts by the letters.
and now im only getting 1 bar of reception in a particular area of my home where I usually get 2-3 bars..
maybe a phone restart will solve this little issue...

after the reset im getting perfect reception...
still edge though..... oh well.... i have wifi at home.....
Do not download this update. I'm finding a way to restore this. Before the update I'd get 2-3 bars if lucky however as soon as I updated "No Service" For 3g and it will not click over to EDGE. This is worse than 2.0.1
While it seems everyone's mileage may vary, I'm extremely pleased with this update. Ever since I bought my iPhone, I've had 0-1 bars in my bedroom, but after installing 2.0.2 I get full bars anywhere in my room, which means I no longer have to stand perfectly still be the window to make a call...so this update pretty much has me jumping for joy (And staying connected while doing so!)
I should probably add that where I live there is no 3G whatsoever, so I'm all EDGE
Can someone explain these recurring statements?

As for call problems...
I've got a Nokia N75 (on AT&T) with many of the same problems that peeps have reported for the iPhone. Calls get dropped with full bars. Calls not going through. Seemingly had similar issues with a Blackberry 7100 on T-Mobile. Sound like an issue with AT&T infrastructure more than the phone's software. Perhaps the iPhone could handle network issues with more grace, but a lousy network is a lousy network. No?
I just plugged in my phone this morning click on download and install.
After a quick shower, the phone was updated and synched.
No major changes, thouth I did not have any other problems than once the keyboard lag was present.
Take it EZ.. it's only a phone.. errr.. I mean the God Phone :-)
Well i just did the .02 update with no problem on my 1st gen iphone. The keyboard lag appears to be fixed (though it's early days), aswell as the contacts lag, the location thing on Maps seems a bit more accurate and all my data is still there!!! I've only had one problem with the updates losing my data (which was backed up elsewhere, luckily) the rest of the time it's been fine. Can't comment on 3g connection but my EDGE connection is always perfect, but T-Mobile Germany seems to be an ok company, not like it's evil US sister (or ATT for that matter) They even refund when they make mistakes!
I should add, it seems that all/most of the problems are related to the new hardware. The words 'rushed' and 'cheap' come to mind, wow am i glad i stuck with the EDGE iPhone and didn't queue for hours to get my hands on the new one!
I have had no problems so far with the update. The contacts seem to scroll faster and less jerky and I havnt noticed the sms texting lag yet.
I havnt played with it too much but these two were the first two things i noticed. Iv never had this so called "call dropping" issue before - Whats that? do you guys mean you get disconnected while on calls? If so I havnt experienced anything like that at all yet fortunately.
I have experienced incredibly low signal strength on my phone when I enter buildings etc - Its strange as my older phones have never had such a problem yet this iphone 3g seems very fickle to such things?
I dont think AT&T are totally blameless in all the problems, it seems to me the majority of users with dropped calls and crappy 3G data are in the US, here in the UK i get 1 bar of 3G at home all the time and I have had NO dropped calls or constant switching between EDGE.
Go on AT&T crank the 3G up to 11, i dare ya!

after downloading 2.02 all the applications I got so far stopped working - how rubbish is that!

Apparently some people are unable to launch 3rd party applications after installing this update. The issue seems to affect all of the non-default applications.
I read over at TUAW that some people are able to fix the issue by downloading any other App from the AppStore. When the App finishes installing all your other Apps should work again.

Well my original 4gb iPhone had problems being laggy and unresponsive after 2.0, then I think 2.0.1 fixed all that, so I haev no complaints now. Ill grab 2.0.2 and give it a go.
Menus are faster and my 3g connection seems a bit stronger...couldn't be happier...thanks apple!
Well I don't know if it's fixing anything so far (in NYC, 3G is pretty slow on my iphone) but I will tell you what has not changed; mail app. If the phone switches between edge/3G and vice versa then I often find my mail app to stop checking for mail. I have to reboot the phone. I am now trying to see if turning on flight mode then off fix this instead of restarting the phone. This happen often when you have to go in and out of subways (and cell reception) it's really annoying because for a bit I would not realize this and be wondering why I didn't a single email in the last hour (I use the phone for my business as well). ONE THING THAT SUCKS for sure is the battery. By 3pm I am out of power, now carry my APC battery back up.

So, it's been a couple of hours after I updated mine over to 2.0.2. But, over the past 3 days i've noticed a significant improvement in GPS, and 3G performance, at least in Nothern Virginia.
Nothing revealing about 2.0.2. At least now, when i'm inside my house it can locate the general area I'm in 3mile radius.
Just wondering how many people with problems have modified their iPhones (jailbreak...etc). My phone remains as it was intended to be from Apple and I have absolutely none of these issues that everyone else is complaining about (except for the slow contacts issue). Any one with reception, drop calls and app crashing...etc problems please reply with whether your phone is modified or original.

Where has the battery life gone? I use to be able to get through the day, no problem, leaving wi-fi on (no 3G), and making plenty of calls and surfing the web. Now after I upgraded to 2.0.2 the battery is gone in half a day with no changes to my settings. A better connection, at the expense of the battery... Hopefully when 2.1 comes out Apple will find a nice balance between the two.

After running it for 24 hours-
* Bit snappier loading and scrolling contacts (synced to exchange, in my case)
* Safari hasnt crashed, yet. It used to a couple of times a day.
* I can watch YouTube clips on a page without Safari reloading the page when I return (which in Bloglines means that I lose my "unread' posts)
* Theres an A-Z scroll bar in the iPod now, like the one thats in contacts... i alwasy wondered why it was used in one place and not the other (maybe this is because i added some more songs)
This update has really helped me out. I upgraded from 2.0 to 2.0.2 and it fixed my 3G problems completely. I was getting no 3G whatsoever at my house, or within a 10-15 minute drive of my house, only Edge. After I installed 2.0.2 I'm getting a full 3G signal. awesome!
Update has made applications a bit snappier, but reception is worse. I've also experienced an incredible reduction in battery life! I love playing with the Iphone, but as an actual phone, it pretty much sucks.
I won't miss the jailbreak too much. The Winterboard/Summerboard themes are not that important and Netshare still works fine so I won't miss Terminal tethering from jailbreak. I do miss Flixwagon streaming video to the net via iPhone 3G but I will get over it. The new firmware seems to work well and I won't have to worry about the pineapple logo if something goes wrong with my iPhone. Maybe I'll Pwn it without the logo next time.

Installed it yesterday. Woke up this morning and my battery was completely drained! I have been able to let my phone sit idly in the past for a night with no problems.

I updated to 2.0.2 and it did seem to fix some issues. 3G seems to be more stable as before it would show full bars then go to nothing and back to the Edge and repeat. I have found that Safari and Some of my apps are now crashing more often. One of the apps that has crashed a few times since the upgrade is Apple's Texas Hold'em. It has never crashed before but now seems to do it at least once during heavy play. I still get keyboard lag from time to time during texting or emailing. I haven't tried holding the home button down yet to see if that makes a difference.
Email issues seem to be the biggest issue. Every now and then email will never connect to the servers and update. To resolve I have to restart the phone and it works fine for awhile. I also have seen where messages are not downloaded you select download and it just goes through a loop and never downloads. Still waiting on Flash, Video, and photo/picture messaging.

Well it actually doesn't but I just wanted to point out what a stupid title this article had.
Just updated a first generation phone and had my first experience of White-Apple-of-Death. Have managed to restore after faffing about for around an hour. I'm not so impressed.

The update broke every app (free and paid) I had downloaded from App store. Even after multiple resets and restarts, deleting and reinstalling and even restoring the software completely, every app crashes back to the homescreen after 20 seconds or so.
My new 3G iPhone is completely legal and running on AT&T network in Las Vegas.
Anyone else see this?
