MST3K crew appears during the Summer Olympics broadcast?
Now look, we're not sure if this was someone's drug-induced fever dream or not, but if it did really go down, it might be the best thing that's happened at the entire 2008 Summer Olympics. According to the Dirty Red Commie, sometime on August 17th between 2:00 PM and 3:13 PM Mountain Time, Joel, Tom Servo, and Crow T. Robot from Mystery Science Theater 3000 appeared on NBC's broadcast of the summer games. The DRC says they were simply static -- no hilarious jokes or animated banter -- but cut out during local commercials, giving him the impression that this was coming from the NBC mothership rather than his local station. Apparently a video of the action was set to go up on YouTube, but was "copyright-killed before it was even done processing." If anyone out there on the interblogs is able to confirm this, we'd love to hear from you.
Update: While not exactly proving the authenticity of this, we've now got video of it after the break.
Update: Aaaaaand... the video has been taken down.

Didn't happen, was watching the telecast pictured above. This is a hoax!!!

Hoax or not, that's the greatest idea EVER!
Also watching from Florida, over-the-air HD and didn't see it. Wish it'd been real. :-)
That is so funny, I was just thinking yesterday that the Olympics were great fodder for something like Cheap Seats...or MST3K. It is (the Olympics) only watchable with friends, so everyone can make(hopefully) funny or interesting comments during.
It came on several times during Sunday on the digital feed here in Helena, MT. Wasn't there on the analog station. Girlfriend had no idea what it was and she was getting annoyed.
Defiently Space Mutiny is one of the best. If you cant enjoy a movie that takes some of its scenes from Battlestar Galactica, then what can you enjoy. And how can you forget the many names of David Ryder....Flint IronStag, Bulk VanderHuge, Thick McRunFast,Stump JunkMan, Dirk HardPec, Rip SteakFace,Slate SlabRock, Crud BoneMeal, Brick HardMeat,Rip SlagCheek, Punch SideIron, Gristle McThornBody,Slate FistCrunch, Buff HardBack, Blast ThickNeck,Crunch ButtSteak, Slab SquatThrust, Lump BeefBroth,Touch Rustrod, Brief Blastbody, Big McLargeHuge,Smoke ManMuscle, Feet PunchBeef, and of course....Bob Johnson.
If its just a small under 30 seconds clip get it to me and I will put it on youtube. Fair Use makes this possible IE FIGHT them on it.
Cody has a few screenshots too:

Go get 'em.
I was also watching from Orlando (and I just moved from Milwaukee, interesting that both are represented already...), and there was nothing. I do want to believe though!
Even though Space Mutiny and Time Chasers are some of the best ones.....The shorts are really the funniest damn things to watch ever....EVAR!!!!!!
Rifftrax Troll 2 is freakin' awesome.
OMG! One little mistake, and it's all over the web!
SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!
Yes the problem was restricted to the Helena, Montana area and only to customers of Bresnan Digital Cable and HD over-the-air broadcast.
There was a problem with the new HD unit, and one of the key units was not encoded properly
Too bad it wasn't the network
