AT&T adds LG Invision to Mobile TV lineup
Just as we'd envisioned, the Invision candybar (if a phone this stubby can, in fact, be called a candybar) from LG is now a reality for AT&T. The phone becomes just AT&T's third to support its MediaFLO-based Mobile TV service, taking a similar line to Samsung's Access by stuffing a landscape display, 1.3-megapixel camera, and HSDPA into a squarish case that's sure to make minimalists and traditionalists swoon; what's more, it also takes the honor of being AT&T's smallest Mobile TV-equipped handset to date. It's available today for $99.99 with a $50 rebate and two years' worth of commitment -- just be sure to factor the cost of the Mobile TV add-on into your budget.

Funky. It looks like a cross between a smartphone and a SLVR: smartphone screen and size with the SLVR's keypad and functionality.

Not only do have to factor in the MobileTV monthly cost, you have to also factor in the high end data plan too because you will definitely use any limited plan up!

Why would anyone buy Mobile TV when it becomes defunct on Feb 22, 2009?
RC @ Aug 20th 2008 1:14PM
Are you serious?
AT&T Mobile TV uses MediaFLO, it has nothing to do with the analog broadcast shutoff.
Dead_Rebel @ Aug 20th 2008 1:19PM
dumbass
Hellaphunt @ Aug 20th 2008 12:43PM
And it looks so irritatingly bland.

is this the first time LG has ever launched a phone for a wireless carrier other than Verizon? seems so, at least in recent times.
PENGUINCARL @ Aug 20th 2008 4:45PM
The LG Vu is for AT&T as well. The Mobile TV service looks really good on it, well worth the $15 extra per month,

Why does everyone have to copy the iPhone design so closely. Makes me ignore their product because they obviously can't stand on their own features.

Are you born blind or have you lost your sight?
don't worry anyway, braille touch screens for iPhone will come out soon enough.

I believe there's a little something called "the bar" that all companies try and shoot for, regardless of what type of company they are.
mdnetguru @ Aug 20th 2008 4:33PM
Agreed. They literally put a keypad and a smaller screen on an iphone. Way to be original LG. I hope they remembered to replace the apple on the back with an LG logo.
AJL @ Aug 20th 2008 9:09PM
More to the point, why the heck doesn't ATT have tv for the iPhone?

It is annoying how many phones released in the last year so openly ape the iPhone in design. More irritating was when the RIM CEO claimed that they arrived at the design of the BB Bold independently. I mean, is glossy black with a chrome ring around the front the next obvious evolution of technology from angular grey flip-phones? It's sad.
Sadder still, is the fact that the glossy black and chrome are actually what I would consider the weak points in the iPhone design. I've been using it since day 1, and these shiny surfaces show so many smudges (and scratches on the chrome) that I constantly have to wipe it on my shirt to keep it looking pretty. Put the same features and usability into an all matte-black package and I'd be all over it.

That keypad looks entirely unusable. Dear God...

This phone is NOT TOUCHSCREEN!!!! What are you all talking about???? This phone also has nothing in common with the Iphone!! Please read about products before you talk about them or at least ask questions. Don't make wild assumptions!
ANTHONY REYES @ Sep 6th 2008 8:27PM
BRO!!!! ARE YOU ALL A BUNCH OF IDIOTS!! THIS DOES NOT COMPARE TO THE IPHONE ON ANY LEVEL. BROWSER CAPABILITIES, GPS, BUILT IN IPOD, ITUNES, EMAIL/EXCHANGE SERVER COMPATABILITY. WHY DONT YOU HELP YOURSELVES TO SOME BOOKS AND EDUCATE YOURSELVES!!!!!
andie @ Sep 22nd 2008 9:43PM
Athe invision is actually available for 99.99 AFTER mail in rebate. so the price in store is 149.99 and it doesnt require the data plan. mediaflo is on it's own stream, you never touch the internet for it.
