European Xbox Live Starter Pack said to be landing in November

While there's unfortunately no word on a release 'round these parts, it looks like Xbox 360 users in Europe can look forward to a relatively inexpensive means of upgrading their console, with this Xbox Live Starter Pack apparently set to land in November for €79 (or roughly $117). As you can see above, that'll get you a 60GB hard drive, a wired headset, and a gold Xbox Live membership good for three months. Not exactly everyone, but it'll no doubt be an attractive option to those that bought a Core or Arcade and suddenly found themselves having second thoughts about going sans hard drive.

I'd bump this up to $150 and give you a wireless headset.
caramelzappa @ Aug 21st 2008 3:21PM
No, thank you. The wireless headset MS makes is crap. When someone has one on LIVE you always know because there is CONSTANT static coming from someones mic.
ai11237 @ Aug 21st 2008 3:42PM
$115 got me a 250 gig hard drive for my ps3.
why did microsoft make these drives unique. The consumers like to keep everything standard.
nieker @ Aug 21st 2008 6:17PM
79 euro is probably going to be 79 dollar. Gaming industry has its own currencies... the one where euro and dollar are the same. For example: our xbox premium costs 279 euro, so that would be 415$.

Microsoft made these easy to install and take around, like a memory card. People who don't have much knowledge of computers will be able to change HD's easily, however with the PS3, people might be much more intimidated by the fact that you have this raw SATA HD that looks so difficult to install/uninstall.

where is the "s" in the number written above, at the end ?
Daviesifier @ Aug 21st 2008 3:12PM
not every language uses "s" make something plural.... and as most of Europe doesn't speak English... you catch my drift...
Farris @ Aug 21st 2008 3:33PM
papafew - I've never said "Euros" before... it just sounds weird. It's always "This costs 32 euro." Both times that I've flown through Euro-land, people always used the term Euro as well.
Andrew @ Aug 21st 2008 5:52PM
That question has already been asked and answered in the EU. The result was that both singular and plural of the currency name is Euro. Official practice in English-language EU legislation is to use the words euro and cent as both singular and plural.
However:
The European Commission Directorate-General for Translation's English Style Guide (A handbook for authors and translators in the European Commission) states: "Like ‘pound’, ‘dollar’ or any other currency name in English, the word ‘euro’ is written in lower case with no initial capital and, where appropriate, takes the plural ‘s’ (as does ‘cent’): This book costs ten euros and fifty cents."
jizmo @ Aug 22nd 2008 3:03AM
They should've gone with *credits* instead of euro, which is a super lame name for a currency.
I mean, it's 21st century. Haven't they seen any eighties sci-fi movies?

i would just want the hard drive for a fair price. my 20GB is going to fill up quick with games when they unleash the Fall update. and the price for the 120GB is way too high.
d @ Aug 21st 2008 3:17PM
holy flip, it is a faceplate.

WTF?
Shadowise @ Aug 21st 2008 3:19PM
not a bad price, but I'd like to see some offers on the bigger drives for people stuck with a 20GB.
Reece @ Aug 21st 2008 3:27PM
Erm...
Isn't this an offer on a bigger drive for people stuck with a 20GB or none at all?
Shadowise @ Aug 21st 2008 3:34PM
Technically yes, but I dont need another headset cluttering up my room. I meant hard drive online promotions.
Miguel @ Aug 21st 2008 3:30PM
Nice, but question: since this is essentially upgrading the Core/Arcade to a Pro, will the hard drive also be loaded with the necessary software to enable BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY not presently a feature of the Core/Arcade?
If so, that would be awesome. And I say "bring this stateside."
kal326 @ Aug 21st 2008 3:38PM
Its downloadable from MS, or atleast it was for those buying 20GB or 120GB drives for the Core/Arcade systems. I would think it would still be available.
Chris @ Aug 21st 2008 3:42PM
So what about those of us that just want the 60gb HDD? I'll never pay $180 for way more space than I'll ever use, I just want enough to last me through any expansion pack/Rock Band DLC that comes out in the next 2 years.
Randy_S @ Aug 21st 2008 3:46PM
MS really needs to bring down the price of the HDs as an individual unit. The 120BG is so overpriced and I'm still limping along with an original 11GB. Would love to store full games on the HD to negate having to switch out actual game discs.

computer.dude.28 @ Aug 21st 2008 5:08PM
looks like your cover is blown, Mik.
Rich @ Aug 21st 2008 5:13PM
Does it come with the transfer cable though? I guess not...
Cody @ Aug 21st 2008 5:27PM
You can get one from Microsoft for free.
Abuzar Baloach @ Aug 21st 2008 5:58PM
That's actually a pretty decent price. I mean the 20GB HDD alone used to be 100 bucks.
Senor_Tom @ Aug 21st 2008 7:48PM
This is perfect, my headset is broken and i really like the the wired one, and with the new dash update i will have more space for all those games :)
The live for three months is just the icing on the cake.
Onouris @ Aug 21st 2008 9:50PM
There's no mention of Europe there. That's one poster, in one language, for one country.
