LG's KC910 takes over where Viewty left off, packs 8MP camera

Nah, it ain't the Prada II or anything, but who's to argue with an 8-megapixel camera? You heard right -- LG's followup to the Viewty is the KC910, a touchscreen-based handset that checks in at 14-millimeters thick and supports quad-band GSM / 7.2Mbps HSDPA. Furthermore, you'll find Bluetooth 2.0, WiFi, a 3-inch 400 x 240 resolution display, a microSD expansion slot, Xenon flash (alongside a Schneider-Kreuznach lens), video recording, TV output, a multimedia player (with DivX and XviD support, we're told) and built-in GPS. This feature-packed device is bruited to be on track for an October launch, though we've no idea how costly it'll be (nor what regions it will invade).

This is what the Viewty should've been. It's mighty annoying not being able to play Xvid files. Bluetooth 2.0+EDR and Wifi are also what's missing. Plus keyboard support in every app, not just SMS, notes and some fields in the browser, when in landscape mode. And some other minor things. Hopefully, all of that has been fixed here.

Looks nice. and unlike the Apple's all new scratch, smeared, cracked plastic back, that doesn't even hold a signal that well I think the endless post about how cool Apple was should be noted as past tense.
I have an iPhone original and it is the first Apple product that makes me not want to upgrade to inferior plastic. The LG looks good, the lens is not bad either, unlike the old Soviet quality iPhone lens.

Apple might not have invented the touch screen but the iPhone's screen is damned good. I'm sure it's a badge of honor to invent something and have your product be the best but that frequently isn't the case. As wizzy as an 8MP camera in a phone sounds, what's the image quality going to be like? I don't expect this to be rivaling my DSLR but is it even going to rival my 8MP Panasonic compact? To be honest, I'm expecting noisy images, although I'm certain they'll be better than no image at all.

I want a new standard of measurement.

2megapixel camera phone = if you squint you can make out what it is.
4megapixel camera phone = in no way close to a 35mm camera.
10megapixel camera phone = not much better but takes up more space.
