Modder adds CCD eyepiece to binoculars, Bill Belichick seems interested
Oh sure, you've been able to buy digital camera-equipped binoculars for years now, but finding one that does video (particularly with the camcorder you already own) has been a continual struggle. Thanks to one engineering soul, you can forge ahead with your plans to video all sorts of sights by adding a CCD eyepiece to any 'ole set of binoculars. Once installed, you simply hook up your camcorder (hope it has video in), mash record and get to gazing. Be careful what you look for, though.

As a Patriots fan I should be in tears crying fanboy loyalty Chris Crocker-style, but a golf clap to you for breaking away from the normally lame-ass headlines on here.
Bravo, Engadget.
AJ in the East Bay @ Aug 22nd 2008 11:37PM
The title was CLASSIC.
strangefate @ Aug 23rd 2008 1:21AM
Really? I thought it was trite and contrived.
Speaking of which, adding "gate" to the end of every scandal is also trite and contrived. Should self-respecting journalists avoid cliches?
tkatz111 @ Aug 23rd 2008 2:29AM
Is that because you're a Patriots fan? I thought that 19-0 apparel was pretty contrived. Apparently, contrived belongs in Africa too.
Andy Anonymous @ Aug 23rd 2008 3:29AM
@tkatz111:
They always pre-make apparel for both possible outcomes in a game so that they have it ready when the immediate demand hits. Then they donate the "wrong" stuff to some starving country. This happens for just about every sports championship. I thought everyone knew that already.
mahmud @ Aug 23rd 2008 3:43AM
18-1, Haha. love the title.
strangefate @ Aug 23rd 2008 2:44PM
I actually detest The Patriots. Not a Giants fan either, but was a huge one in Week 17.
It's because I hate the obvious and overused.

So those 900x digital zoom cam corders are not better? I like building things too, but the image quality has to be better even when zooooooooomed way in. I dont get it.
Also why do we need to confirm this post by email, isnt that kinda silly.
Colin Potter @ Aug 23rd 2008 3:25AM
you either a)misplaced your "sarcasm" tags or b) are a fool
digital zoom is the same as zooming in on something on the computer... it doesnt bring the distant image closer... just makes a certain portion visible and larger... you're magnifying pixels. a pair of 40x binoculars will, however, give you a slightly fisheyed but entirely not pixelated view
thewalrusking @ Aug 23rd 2008 2:53PM
Dude I know about the pixelation, these binocs give u what 10x zoom? And 95% of the people who would make this, will use CHEAP cams they buy on ebay which prolly are 1/10th the total pixels anyway. Im just saying it just seems strange.
Heath @ Aug 23rd 2008 2:08AM
Are we still hung up on this? I don't come to engadget for sports commentary but this one is rather cheap. But this is to be expected when you're talking about the best team in the NFL. Jealousy runs rampant...but it's okay...simply human nature.
Oreoleo @ Aug 23rd 2008 2:44AM
Best team in the league that got beat the @#$% down in the superbowl.
Jack Storm @ Aug 23rd 2008 9:04AM
The best team in ALL of football should have that nice shiny trophy, which is what they play for. And the best team does have the trophy so get off denial road.
But yeah the title of this is funny so, lol!
matt merritt @ Aug 23rd 2008 9:16AM
Eli Manning.
Heath @ Aug 23rd 2008 11:58AM
hey guys, the pats were the better team. can you seriously sit here and tell me that you don't think the pats would have won that game 6 or 7 times out of 10 if they played 10 games? honestly, a single game does not decide the "better team". i'm the first to admit the pats coughed up the trophy in a bad way. but i firmly believe the pats were the better team which is backed by a plethora of statistics (1st and foremost season record).
it's kinda funny when you consider this: people piss all over the pats because they blew the superbowl but these same people wouldn't be so critical or even care if they didn't think that the pats were the better team.
Colin Potter @ Aug 23rd 2008 2:14PM
on Madden franchise mode I went 19-0 with the packers... Go Rodgers!!

OPaleeez @ Aug 23rd 2008 4:59AM
Funny I thought the score was actually rather close? And I thought they lost in the final 40 seconds? Off a miracle catch no less?
Andy Anonymous @ Aug 23rd 2008 1:17PM
Yep. The Patriots pretty much played their worst game in over two seasons and still were within a single play of winning the game.

I didn't quite know what to make of that until I read it again.
