XPERIA X1 to come in black only?
We're hoping beyond hope that Sony Ericsson's XPERIA X1 is actually nearing a launch date, but astute reader Kingsley just pointed out to us that SE's US web site no longer lists silver as an available color choice, only Solid Black. That's notable only because we've only mostly seen silver editions of the X1 until now, but a limited color palette's not going to stop us from snapping this one up as soon as it hits -- what about you?

I would break the stylus the first second i bought x1.
I'd love to have this phone... if it worked Verizon. I have had nothing but good things to say about the iPhone since getting it last year. I have had nothing but _bad_ things to say about AT&T since switching from Verizon. With all of the additional customers (=increased revenue) why hasn't the network improved?
Will this phone (or the Touch Pro) be good enough to keep me on AT&T is the real question. I can tell you that the iPhone (3G or not) ain't gonna do it.

Currently, the X1 is the front runner for my next phone purchase. It was the iPhone 3G, but I think this is so much cooler. If this comes to AT&T for under $400, I will definitely get it (I liked the black anyway). If it's more than that, I'll take a look at the TouchPro, and reconsider the iPhone 3G. And, although it's in a different category, I have a soft spot for the N78. So it will all depend on a) when this is released, and b) how much will it cost on a 2-year AT&T contract.
I'm guessing it's the USA site that's listing black only? A check of the UK site shows both black and silver as options... with pictures of both

Yeah it seems, UK are getting both colours.
I've been waiting for a year now. I can wait 3 more months. I just hope it launches with AT&T, otherwise, "hello iPhone".
Is anybody else worried about the non-standard resolution? I know that Windows Mobile will support it just fine... my worry is that app developers will never have considered what their app will look like at 800x480... I'm doubtful that everything will automatically scale correctly... 640x480 is easy, same aspect ratio... but w/ 800x480 I'm worried stuff like TomTom or games will have issues.
So with the inclusion of 1700 and 2100 MHz frequencies, it is in fact supporting T-Mobile's U.S 3G!

Edit:
My Mistake UMTS 1700 doesn't seem to mean AWS 1700 as another reader pointed out
once again:
uhhhhh..... no. UMTS 1700/2100 is NOT the same as AWS 1700/2100.
I don't mind. Personally i like black. It's in the now with emo kids.
Black and Silver together. Mini review of the pre-production model. Touch Pro also compared.

The website actually has shown black as the only color for quite some time now. I remember noticing that way back when it was announced.
anything with winmo makes me cringe. the only thing that might get me baited is the htc touch pro, b/c they so elegantly hide winmo.
come on!! i just want it to come out already!!! :D

Black n Silver available in UK
Runs Windows Mobile right?
No thanks.
And so what if it has a nicer skin, that's the equivalent of putting an evening dress on a donkey.
I really liked the silver (I think it'd be perfect if it came in white), but still I don't mind the black.
Looks like a BRICK!.... And this is coming from a BIG Sony fan. It may function well, but lacks in design. The Sony design needs a reality check..Nobody wants a Xperia Walkman... Sony...Wake up!
This phone looks so sexy! The first smart phone that has ever captured my interest.
Makes the iphone look even more shit and over-rated (more than it is now)
hahahaha this is hilarious you guise c'mon the touch-pro has a g-sensor, improved touchflo, FIVE-ROW KEYBOARD(i read that the xperia is a 3-row and a recent review said it wasn't very good), great community (most htc touch, mogul. and tilt owners are switching to the diamond and touch-pro), tv-out, great presentation out of the box(which also is nice)
The way I look at this is... well the xperia is just a polished better looking version of every winmo phone out their and has a completely novel and useless interface vs the touch-pro's informative one... I mean touchflo 3d is more of a do everything program than just a new user interface.
the only plus the xperia has over the touch-pro is an inch bigger screen and the fact that it's thinner... hmmm thinness or a g-sensor???..... Yeah I am going to go with the touch-pro this isn't even a good comparison you guise if you want an xperia just go paint an htc mogul black than you don't have to wait for a phone who's release date is even more vague than the touch-pro *cough *cough october(trust me)
Yep, once again, CDMA and EVDO gets left out in the cold. Damn you Sony-Ericsson, damn you to hell!
Not entirely. This specific unit, yes. But the Touch Pro (which is a very similar high-end, HTC built product) is arriving for Sprint/VZW. You will have your shiny new unit just like all the other kids :)
Correction: shiny new "gadjit" :-D
Give it to me, I don't care what color it is I log on to this site everyday in the hopes that I will see an update regarding the Xperia X1.
it's not 'too' thick - it's a little dense though. like a chubby in your pocket. display is great - so freakin hires. camera rocks. they also have a cool touch ui shell that hasn't been shown publicly yet. time will tell.
All these different bands and one of them isn't CDMA.
Oh well.
Black is the new black.
it is probably due to production plan, they have a lot of inventory which are not selling, perhaps sticking to Black is a safe bet =)
Its available in Steel Silver, too.

Even the black color can't make this brick look slimmer
