iControlPad iPhone gamepad case prototype surfaces
We saw a couple versions of the iControlPad iPhone gamepad surface back in May, but it looks like the clever add-on is getting close to reality -- check out these case prototypes that just popped up. Yeah, it's not, uh, small -- good thing the target price is under $30. Touch Arcade also has some other pictures of another iPhone gaming accessory that looks like it slides open, check it out at the read link.

This is all rather pointless anyways.
iPhone users are such minimalists anyways (which explains why they are using such a limited phone in the first place), that I just can't imagine them always lugging one of these things around with them just in case they ever want to play a game on the go.
Just get a real smart phone, such as an HTC Touch Pro/Diamond or an Xperia or even an Omnia if you want gaming on the go, and with thousands of titles at your disposal at that.
What, They can do this but they can't get copy / paste or SMS on the iPhone.. Doesn't make any sense..
OOps, Sorry I meant "MMS" not "SMS".. I clicked to add comment then noticed my mistake..
Doc, is that you!?
I'd prefer a wireless bluetooth controller that I could bring along if I wanted to play games (ala bluetooth headset). Or is bluetooth not fast enough to send controller info?
The Game Gear lives! Seriously, I had flashbacks when I saw the image for the first time.
start and select are on the wrong sides.
Hope its foldable, otherwise it'd be reaching new levels of impracticality.
As long as developers make games that support this, Im down. Especially under $30?
Looks ugly but has promise.. but I don't get it.. doesn't defeat the touch part?
But touch can't really be used for everything
I, for one, would hate to play a game where my hands cover the screen.
I have really big hands. Honest.
But really, imagine playing something like Sonic with purely a touchscreen? Would be nigh-on impossible to play if you ask me.
if u go to the site, it says its just a prototype case, the real 1 will be shiny and look kool and stuff
Interesting...but I swore that the SDK didn't open up the dock port.
So how would this work?
