New Canon budget compacts leaked en masse, oppressively mundane?
There's no telling how legit these shots are: the impressively extensive spec sheets and well-done product shots make us want to believe that no one on earth is actually bored enough to fake these, but at the same time we're really hoping Canon has something better in store for its A-series cams and other budget shooters -- they're all cute, but perhaps overly so. Here's the breakdown:
- A1000IS: 10 megapixel, 4x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD
- A2000IS: 10 megapixel, 6x optical zoom, 3-inch LCD (pictured)
- SX110IS: 9 megapixel, 10x optical zoom, 3-inch LCD
- E1: 10 megapixel, 4x optical zoom, 2.5-inch LCD

These seem legitimate.
Of course, what everyone's really waiting for is the 5D replacement :) which has to be the most anticipated camera in history!
they seem very easy photoshop to me. The reflections from below don't match the cameras, and also the way the camera's are stacked are WAY too flat. Just looking at the first image you can tell that the 3 camera's cannot be standing next to each other like that. They seem to be connected. I could do better 15 years ago with Photoshop 2.5. I would have gotten a "C" at most if I turned insomething like this for class.
In the A2000IS reflection IS the CANON logo is not even mirrored.
In the SX110is image, the reflection doesn't even show the front of the lens, that's some amazing light bending abilities.
I'm sorry, but whoever wrote this article needs to do a little more background check.
I'm waiting for the PowerShot G10. I don't have the budget for a dSLR, and would like a more professional camera.
The G9's image quality needs some improvement (canon increased the sensor size, but only tried to squeeze more pixels out of it), and it needs a wide-angle lens.
Okay, so the Photoshop work isn't perfect, but that doesn't mean they're fake. You're neglecting the camera mockups themselves, which appear to be quite legit!
@KarlW
You can buy a separate wide-angle lens from Canon for the G9, which I have to say works quite well. But, I do agree on the picture quality issue, it could use some improvement.
I don't know, the camera mockups looks fake to me too.
the back of the A1000IS looks good, with dimpled buttons, etc. But the back of the A2000IS looks totally flat.
the finger holding the camera profile looks odd too. If it's a top-down view to show the thickness of the camera... maybe. But try holding something in that manner, where you barely hold something from underneath ... possible yes but uncomfortable. Your thumb and index finger should be opposite each other for leverage, it's about to tip over and fall.
for the E1 the control pad on the back is not a Canon design style. Canon has been sticking with circular control style for a while. Not only that, the whole camera is bubbly and round EXCEPT the cross-type control.
It could be a no-name brand camera and someone could easily have photoshopped Canon on them and changed a few things... like I said, the cross-type pad seem unnatural.
xtian, your mom is fake. check this out, "http://ccsphoenixtest.com/"
im so glad the 50D is being reported on. these look way bland.
I have an A720IS (8.1MP/6x/2.5") and I have to say it's a really nice camera considering I got it last December for ~$200. Hopefully the new A*ISes retain the full manual controls
I have a A710IS. Really nice camera, like you say, easy to use manual controls mean you can get excellent results. 6x optical with IS in a compact is really nice balance. Just bought a waterproof housing for it :)
The worse thing about these new cameras is that you know (and so do canon) the pictures would be better if they had 6/7mp sensors rather than 10. Damn megapixel race.
I just have the A720IS and agree, very nice camera and takes good pics. I just picked up a sd770 elph because I wanted a smaller form factor. I was expecting much higher noise levels due to the higher MP (10 in the case of 770). I was quite surprised the find that the noise seems to be much better dealt with. Its likely due to in-camera noise reduction, but it is very high quality. Images dont seem to have lost their sharpness. I think these cameras look great for entry level.
me rikee.
Very nice.. can't wait to see the G10.. please, plaese add(back) the rotating LCD...
I could see myself getting (2) E1's for my kids for Christmas.
Does anyone know if these have digital or analog image stabilization? Also, does anyone know if either methods is better for image stabilization? What I mean by analog is: gyro sensors and servo actuated optical elements.
Canon has never had digital IS. All their cameras have optical IS so these should be no different.
If digital means sensor-based stabilization, no, these (as all canon cameras and lenses) are optically stabilized.
Although the phrases "digital" and "analog" seem kind of weird to me, as I always see them as sensor-based and optical.
i'm waiting for a replacement for the SD800is, with these two critical features:
1) an optical viewfinder
2) a 28mm or (preferably) wider focal length on the wide end.
Apparently, Canon pulled the premature leaked out links. I use Google Cache to check with the Canon (China) site, for example:

They look pretty legit to me. Have a look at this:
