Gampark's GP2X Wiz handheld now available
We caught a glimpse of GamePark's new Wiz GP2X / GP3X handheld a month or so back, and the homebrew-friendly black-and-red unit is now available. $179 of your American dollars is all it takes to enjoy the 2.8-inch QVGA OLED screen, 533MHz ARM9 processor, 64MB of RAM, 16GB of flash, and 5 hour battery life -- not to mention a Flash 7 player, MPEG4, xViD and DivX compatibility and new games scheduled to hit every month. Dynamism say these'll start shipping on October 8th -- anyone throwing down?

I'll play the minority and say... genius! In reality, 4 buttons shaped in the diamond shape are basically the same thing as a dpad. you push the top button the same way you'd push the "UP" arrow on the dpad. This also makes it completely dexterous. This makes it completely symmetrical now and I think it makes damn good sense.
I hope there is an on-board holder for the stylus, as the GP2X F200's stylus was both useless and annoying. I hope there will be more usefulness for the stylus this time around.
I too am not happy with the connector... Why not use USB with host support so we could simply plug in a wireless usb network adapter and get wifi on this b!tch.
The stylus does appear to slot into the bottom of the machine.
they canned the 2-dpad thing.
Looks like they got a hold of the molds for the old iPod earbuds.
I'll stick with my more powerful PSP and it's better games.
UPDATE- GPH has decided to drop the 2-dpad design in favor of normal buttons and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
praise jebus.
one word: disappointing, I think i'll stick to..um.. my old GP2X F-100 MK2 or perhaps buy the attractive white F-200 instead
Heres the catch, if this Wiz is powerful enough to emulate the 3D next generation video game systems like PSX, PS2, PSP and N64, then I might consider to buy it...well as you can see the buttons are laughable..(hey where are the A,B,X,Y buttons?!)
