We're not going to re-hash the details of
Nokia's N79 and N85 yet again. After all, we just went through it less than 24-hours ago. We will tell you that both the N79 (tri-band GSM, 900/2100 UMTS/HSDPA) and N85 (quad-band GSM/EDGE with either 900/1900/2100 or 850/1900/2100 UMTS/HSDPA) will hit Europe in October for €350 and €450, respectively, pre-tax and pre-carrier subsidies. The N85 could also be Stateside sometime soon given those frequencies and prior
FCC approval. Oh, and pictures, lots of pretty pictures.

It should be "now MUY official"

Wow, I remember making that mistake in high school. I also remember doing the macarena in high school... Wait, what was good about high school again?
rodman @ Aug 26th 2008 8:48AM
is any of there comes with xenon flash?
tuna @ Aug 26th 2008 2:34PM
What do you think those two little things above the camera lens are?
Skip @ Aug 26th 2008 9:23AM
Loving that N85. Will make my mind what to buy when 5800(tube) gets announced.
Joe G @ Aug 26th 2008 9:32AM
*Sigh*... another phone with that "rounded square" button.
Lope.P @ Aug 26th 2008 9:39AM
Like that N85 very much! Considering that it's 2 way slider like N95 and much slimmer(and looks better imo). I'll wait till tube comes out and make my mind if my next phone is from Samsung or Nokia.
nieker @ Aug 26th 2008 9:42AM
This N85 seems to be identical to the N96... some people say it's a lite version of the N96 but I don't really see what is less. Also, if it has a xenon flash like the N82 and not the led flash like the N96 than the N85 is clearly the better phone.
Pdexter @ Aug 26th 2008 10:16AM
Your absolutely right. N96 is useless if you dont need DVB-H. N85 is actually in many ways much better than N96 as one of the biggest being AM-OLED(!) screen and much bigger battery while the AM-OLED screen is much less power hungry than other screens used.
Then there's the smaller size of N85 and cheaper price...
For me it's really hard to find a reason to buy N96 over N85.
Mark Anderson @ Aug 26th 2008 2:16PM
Goodbye N96. Thanks to Nokia's dithering you've been superseded by both Samsung and your own manufacturer.
Poor kid, he never had a chance.
tiuk @ Aug 26th 2008 10:11AM
Sounds about right, since I just got my N95 a few days ago and the N85 sounds better in every way.
Jash Sayani @ Aug 26th 2008 10:31AM
The only good Nokia Phones: E90 & E71.
But both are too expensive. So I'm happy with my iPhone.
Krizp @ Aug 26th 2008 12:24PM
Living state side? If not you should get E71 cheaper via carrier.
Have been in love with my E71. It's slimmer and so snappy that i actually was happily suprised with it even with my high expectations of the phone and so seems others too as it have been selling like no day here in Germany at least.
tuna @ Aug 26th 2008 2:36PM
Apples and oranges. Your iPhone is not exactly cheap once you add up all the fees and plan charges. The Nokia N's aren't cheap because they are not subsidized by US carriers.
tekdroid @ Aug 26th 2008 10:32AM
texting on that bottom-most row of buttons won't be comfy...
Marty @ Aug 26th 2008 12:18PM
Still rather text on that than use this atrocious iPhone keyboard.
Yes it work for millions of sheep, but not for this one.
CAKE!!! @ Aug 26th 2008 11:11AM
Looks! Silver-phone haz CAKEZ to picks up'z@#@$!!!!
YUM!!!
Yipcanjo @ Aug 26th 2008 11:37AM
The home screen layout of the N79 (on the left) looks WAYYYYYY too much like Windows Mobile.
Just saying...

(waits for a good phone to be released....)
JLM @ Aug 26th 2008 12:58PM
Looks like a great phone especially happy with that AMOLED screen on N85. I believe it's biggest AMOLED screen used in mobile phone?
luv2ejacul8 @ Aug 26th 2008 1:32PM
does anybody really care about nokia phones in the u.s.?
My Ipod beats your computer @ Aug 26th 2008 1:50PM
not really, the U.s realized that nokia sucks, we all switched to either:
-blakberry
-Lg
or apple phones
much better that way :)
Mark Anderson @ Aug 26th 2008 2:09PM
Would anyone care if you died screaming in mortal agony?
tuna @ Aug 26th 2008 2:38PM
Judging by the number of replies, a resounding "yes". Shocking isn't it? you're just one insignificant individual.

And according to the Tech. Specs. on nseries.com the N79 has VoIP. Which is great! Finally a phone from Nokia with 3.5mm plug, GPS and VoIP.
I hope this is not a mistake in the specs.
Tejas @ Aug 26th 2008 4:32PM
I believe the N82 and N95 already had those features... so going 'finally' on it doesn't make sense...!
ttest @ Aug 26th 2008 6:38PM
Until the release of the N79 I had the problem that I couldn't decide between the E66 and the N78 because one of'em had the 3.5mm plug and the other one had VoIP, but I want both. The E66 only has a 2.5mm plug and the N78 does not have VoIP. The finally was referring to the combination of VoIP and 3.5mm plug.
gordon @ Aug 26th 2008 1:43PM
The N85 is seems a better buy than the thicker N96. Guess I'd be selling my newly bought N78 for the N85. Nice one Nok... Maybe it's a marketing gimmick to make us buy 10 more Nseries phones before giving us a QWERTY.
onegr,com @ Aug 27th 2008 3:06AM
N85 !! really great (:
