LG injects 7000-series HDTVs with Bluetooth at IFA
Even though it's in nearly every phone available, only a few flat panels with integrated wireless networking have surfaced so far, and now LG's packing Bluetooth into its already highly anticipated "infinite black" PG7000 plasma and Scarlet LG7000 LCD models. Pricetags are still in the air, but LG says these flatscreens will hit worldwide starting with Europe in September.

I think we'd all like to see THAT in widescreen HD!
Juxtah @ Aug 27th 2008 6:51PM
Nice to see more features in TV's but why bluetooth? I'd much prefer WiFi + a decent browser like opera or firefox. But what's the use of bluetooth? Playing music/video through the TV or something? It's just not a feature I would see myself using regularly enough to justify the cost unless you could use it to record from TV to your mp3 player/mobile phone or something
Reader @ Aug 27th 2008 7:01PM
My guess would be a remote.
Would be cool to use your phone to control the TV if you lost your remote. Only problem with that is I'd never have to look for the remote and it would be lost under the couch pillow for eternity.

if you had a decent set of stereo bluetooth headphones , you would know what the point was.
not to mention that if you might be able to stream music , images and maybe even a movie from a mac(for example) direct to the TV.
its a great idea and if i didn't already have a huge tv I would go for this kind of feature.
What I really want at some point, more than anything else, is a tv, with integrated blueray/dvd player.
The Hedonism Bot @ Aug 28th 2008 6:15AM
I don't think bluetooth is fast enough to stream a video.
Homeboy @ Aug 27th 2008 6:54PM
Although cool I can't see the benefits or enhancements a bluetooth compatible TV gives me except for streaming music from a phone or computer.
StalematE @ Aug 27th 2008 7:00PM
maybe they put it in there to use with bluetooth headphones? that's kind of a big price hike for something that dumb. or ripping TV with your computer. Not sure if it would really be fast enough for that.. Uh... cellphone caller ID? That would be weird. I don't really see the point of this at all.
Sublimewulf @ Aug 27th 2008 7:30PM
the playstation 3 bluray remote is awesome!! I hope they implement the same in these TVs, however, it is probably just for wireless speakers, like the ones for the samsung p2.
Jeff Court @ Aug 27th 2008 8:19PM
I second that. Too bad my PS3 was just stolen. :/
Z @ Aug 27th 2008 8:21PM

phanbouy @ Aug 28th 2008 1:00AM

No WiMax? Fail.
dustinlikewhat @ Aug 27th 2008 11:12PM
it's nice to see tv manufactures (hopefully) moving away from line-of-sight, unidirectional communication IR remotes.
wille @ Aug 28th 2008 8:27AM
The 50-inch will go for approx 20.000 crowns in sweden. 3158 dollars.

Remote from my mobile device. Think, if all your devices were bluetooth you could countrol both all your A/V in addition to any streaming content from your CPU. I love it and hope it becomes standard! A lot better than hooking up an ir controller from a BT media pc.
