Peak's Starpex wooden guitar controller gets the hands-on treatment

While there's likely nothing that will convince most folks of the merits of a full-size, $180 wooden guitar controller, those still on the fence about this particular piece of excess may be interested to know that the good people of PS3 Fanboy recently got their hands on one, and they've now offered up some initial impressions. As you might expect, they found it to definitely be a hefty device, but far from an unwieldy one, with the buttons as familiar as even and the strum bar in particular a significant improvement over other Guitar Hero and Rock Band guitars. Peak also doesn't look to have cut any corners when it comes to the little details, with even the strap made of a thick fabric that makes it more comfortable to wear.

And what point do you say "fuck it" and actually learn to play the guitar?
About the time they get off their asses and realize there are other things besides video games
Playing some of the songs on Guitar Hero would take a very long time to learn on a real guitar.
When the real one comes with sex, drugs, groupies and world travel without leaving my couch.
Wow! That's the first time I've ever heard that one!
-_-
You'll be offered drugs, you know. You'll have threesomes. Dinners. You know, you'll end up going into town in a taxi, have a couple of drugs, have dinner, have a threesome, go home again, have a shower, go out again, more drugs, more threesomes. Happens all the time. Alright, I mean... I'd do it.
At what point will those pesky Gran Turismo players with their force feedback wheels say "fuck it" and go buy and learn to drive a real race car? That's what all the COOL kids do.
See, I can ask stupid questions too.

Rich: Stop having fun!
I hate it when people tell this to me.
I play both. But there's no difference between playing guitar hero for ten hours a day or halo for ten hours a day.
but do we say "at what point to you say 'fuck it' and go out and start shooting up the Covenant?"
@jon:
A race car is in quintiple digits. A good beginner guitar is in about $300 US, with an amp. Guitar Hero or your favorite racing game with wheel can be $75 - $100, an X-Box about $300, and at least $500 for a speaker system as good as a nice $300 amp.
do the math.
What does the price have to do with it? People play Guitar hero because they like playing the GAME. People play Gran Turismo because they like playing the GAME. It dies not mean that the person has to or even has to want to have these experiences in real life, that's why they play the GAME.
In short, it's a GAME, get over it. People play it to have fun.
at what point do you say "fuck it", put down your real guitar, and realize that you are never gonna make it as a "real" musician. you can't get laid, you're scared to take drugs, and the only song you know more than three bars of is stairway to heaven. you probably should quit dreaming of making $20 plus a pitcher of beer at the local pub for playing two, three song sets, all the while hoping that the chick with the moustache and dream catcher tattoo sitting at the bar notices you. instead of doing something geeky like play guitar hero, (which is a shit-ton of fun, even for people who play said "real" guitar), you do something geeky like chat on gadget blogs, where you will remain an anonymous, depressed, wanna-be who will be telling stories years from now about how s/he coulda' made it.
not all people on here are the things mentioned above, just worthless pieces of shit like this guy. (and me, of course)
Then how would you pwn n00bs on xbox live?
I wonder when someone is going to put the drum triggers in an acoustic drum set.
It's been done...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84FJQvg8f0I

When the price of a budget gravity hammer is less than the cost of the x-box controller?
No Esteban-endorsed version? Oh wait... That would be bad.
@phanbouy
you might even throw a TV out the window, trying to be a rebel, like Jemaine
For the same price you could buy a really cheap REAL guitar and get lessons.
If you want me to buy your guitar controller make it with BT connectivity built in! Especially for this price.
I might be interested if it works with guitarfreaks as well.
And idiots need to stop comparing real instruments to rhythm games, they aren't the same thing.
