If you are not going to take it off your desk very often, how about getting a smaller laptop and using an external screen? It is a lot cheaper and also easier to move, while giving a much larger screen. I recommend Dell for the screen, and either Dell or Apple for the laptop. The XPS line for Dell and the Macbook Pro line for Apple are where you will find the high specifications you are after. Ideally it should have DVI or HDMI out... though that is not so common at the moment.
