Rumors of Steve Jobs' death greatly exaggerated
You have to figure that major news outlets keep obituaries on hand for all kinds of public figures and celebrities -- still, you can't help feeling a bit of a chill upon learning that notice of Steve Jobs' death mistakingly hit the wires yesterday afternoon. A slip-up at news outlet Bloomberg caused the lengthy obituary to roll across a number of screens before being pulled -- but not before a Gawker tipster was able to send off a copy to the gossip site. Under normal circumstances, this would probably come off as a random gaffe with minimal impact, but given recent reactions / over reactions concerning Jobs' health (thanks in no small part to his appearance at WWDC, pictured above), this comes off as a rotten-timed moment in journalistic and technical butterfingerism. We can only hope this didn't send too many investors into a tailspin -- we'd hate to see any War of the Worlds moments caused by something so silly.

"it's the best selling portable electronics device ever"
Er... what? It's not even the best selling mobile phone of all time. Not even by a long shot...

Hmmm, no one here asked, "what if he were dead"?
Is Steve Jobs so iconic, so charismatic, such a force of nature, that stopping him stops Apple? Apple's current incarnation is certainly design centric, do those designers disappear when Jobs dies? Technologically OS X is a mix of NexTStep and BSD. NexT was where a lot of the innovation came from, I don't see (please tell me where it's happening) the next NexT (a business failure, but an innovation marvel, I'm only looking for the innovation marvel, not the business failure).
Are first generation companies (for automobiles Henry Ford, for electricity Thomas Edison, for software Bill Gates, for hardware/software Steve Jobs) tied to their founding entrepreneurs so strongly? is it the individual mojo of the founder that keeps these companies alive, out of the hands of the incompetent boobs that pose as leaders in America's corporate elite? If so... why? Ellison, Jobs, Gates, Dell are in new industries, but Richard Branson has attacked existing ones (and been remarkably successful)
Again when it does happen, sorry folks deal with it everyone dies, Apple is fracked. Steve "I can walk on iWater" Jobs and his marketing skills are the only things keeping that company afloat. The iPhone isn't doing this well because its the best phone on the market...its Mr Bam's sales ability. When that is gone. Who knows.
yessssss
and bill gates lives on billionare and hero of the world
this is what happens when u go against windows
Shame, deep unspeakable shame on you.
When he does pass away, his remains will be preserved and put on display for all his followers to see.
Oh man, is 'Connie Guglielmo' gonna cop it ..
He's spending a year dead for tax purposes...
i guess this would be a bad time to compare steve jobs dying, and iPods lack of a replaceable battery...
Without Steve Jobs say bye bye to Apple in 5 to 10 years.
