Leaked Sprint roadmap reveals Touch Pro, Touch Diamond dates and pricing
From the looks of it, Sprint has gone and gotten a decent chunk of its playbook leaked all over the interblogs, and it's chock-full of titillating information. Thanks to slippery fingers and loose lips, we already knew that the Touch Diamond and Touch Pro were headed to the carrier, but now we have some solid dates (mid-September for the Diamond, October 19th for the Pro), and pricing ($549.99 and $579.99 unsubsidized, $249.99 and $320 with contract). Of course, this is all according to the above document, which admittedly could be the work of an extremely bored Photoshopper -- but this jibes pretty tightly with a lot of other chatter we've been hearing.

I presume this is without the "Discount for signing up for a 2 year contract" stuff
Jeremy K. @ Aug 31st 2008 1:42PM
I agree since SRP = Suggested Retail Price
Also reading the article, the prices are as follows:
Touch Pro: $330 with 2 year contract and MIR
Touch Diamond: $250 with 2 year contract and MIR

thanks for the info jeremy. heavy sigh. mail in rebate are so fail. is it still 1985 or what?
dBs @ Aug 31st 2008 1:39PM
That seems really high for a subsidized and not high enough for unsubsidized.
ongissim @ Aug 31st 2008 1:39PM
Couldn't someone just make an excel spreadsheet and take a picture of it?
OneLove @ Aug 31st 2008 6:18PM
sprint yellow is difficult to replicate.
Sandeep @ Aug 31st 2008 1:39PM
I'd assume so as well, considering the Q9c is here as $450 but available to customers for $99
JohnTitor @ Aug 31st 2008 1:40PM
photoshopper, if it's fake it was done in 2 minutes on excel 2007 (looking at the tabs at the bottom)
grull27 @ Aug 31st 2008 1:41PM
lol owned!
This is so fake.
O2 @ Aug 31st 2008 2:23PM
Yea, I would have used Power Point to present this to my manager.
John Strickland @ Aug 31st 2008 2:52PM
Even if the picture is fake, the information is real. I was talking to a rep from sprint about how I pay too much for a phone I don't like and all the other sprint phones suck. So I asked him if he knew of any phones that met my requirements and he said "he HTC diamond is coming out next month and it has a lot of awesome features that in my opinion blow the iphone out of the water." He asked me to hold off on canceling sprint for a month to check this phone out.
He told me as early as the 5th for the Diamond.
I am still switching to a phone with a SIM card.
Ilcid @ Aug 31st 2008 2:56PM
I doubt this is fake. I've worked in Sprint customer service and I've seen how they distribute device pricing information. They send it out in spreadsheets, and conveniently the spreadsheet also contains launch dates and end-of-life dates. And the spreadsheet also happens to look exactly like that.
Ilcid @ Aug 31st 2008 4:06PM
Pricing shouldn't be considered when determining if it's fake. I have an HTC Touch Diamond up in Canada that I got off-contract from Telus for $450. So $500+ off-contract is not too cheap.
grull27 @ Aug 31st 2008 1:40PM
Why can't they show us the back of the phone already? It is fugly red, black but flat, or the beautiful, glossy diamond back?
Muhammed @ Aug 31st 2008 1:45PM
since
1. only 30$ difference between diamond and pro?
2. less than retail price A LOT so I assume Its like a 1500$ contract?
3. no useful info whatsoever?
therefore, It is fake.
QED
ScOObyDoo @ Aug 31st 2008 1:52PM
Price difference makes sense to me. The Diamond comes with 4GB internal, the Touch Pro only has a MicroSD slot.
What other useful information would they add to a pricing spreadsheet?
Sorry, but I'm pretty convinced that this list is the real thing. The retail prices are in line with any other operator branded HTC device in its class (like the Tilt).
Johan S @ Aug 31st 2008 2:08PM
Why dont these stupid companies officially announce the release date in advance?
That's how the cell phone industry's best and most admired company (sorry, sad but it's true) Apple does it. Apple announced the iPhone and iPhone 3G release date many months in advance
They are losing a lot sales to the iPhone since all this awaiting around is causing people to get fed up of waiting and the hype to wane.
If people know arelease date .. they'd be more likely to wait .. than for some abstract future release date.
I suppose if they were smart enough to know that people won't wait arbitrarily long ... they'd be smart enough to be Apple.
Ray @ Aug 31st 2008 4:32PM
Im happy there is no official release TBH
Yeah, anticipation is a bytch, but its better than a phone thats heavily delayed due to over estimating or one thats so far down the line that i generally dont care. Not to mention that because there is no release date, im sure they are taking there time with it.
TIM @ Aug 31st 2008 2:12PM
this looks like someone on excel took a picture of the computer screen.
Johan S @ Aug 31st 2008 2:16PM
It's quite possible that it's an official excel doc that had this info
It does not mean it's fake, it could be something internal .. and internal excel doc. Lots of companies use excel for internal documents.
The personn may have opened the ecel doc on someone's or a company computer and then taken a picture.
grull27 @ Aug 31st 2008 2:32PM
Omg guys! I just found out that Sprint is going to release the Omnia this year at $1,500 SRP!
Here's the proof!

But that says $1000....
Broo @ Sep 1st 2008 10:06AM
I suspect a fake; it is missing the Sprint logo and the yellow table fill... :o)
(...and it doesn't look like Excel?)

Ever heard of a linux repository, yeah didnt think so.
JAG @ Aug 31st 2008 4:11PM
Sigh....
I'm glad to see Apple has a new invention under their belt. Do you guys realize people have been developing and installing apps on their Windows, Palm, Symbian, Blackberry Smartphones for years now? (look up Getjar to understand what a developer friendly marketplace is supposed to look like) I know it's a shock! If you want to give Apple credit for creating a locked down, totalitarian, anti-developer store then by all means do so but don't try to pretend this is part of Apple's innovation.
And no, they didn't create the touch-screen phone either!

Nice. too bad its sprint. I have them for my company phone. Reception blows, at least here in the Minneapolis metro area, and for some reason when I occasionally call someone I get a busy signal even though I KNOW they have voicemail.
Jack @ Aug 31st 2008 9:44PM
I feel your pain. My friend's work uses Sprint and they get NO service. I'm on VZW...it's amazing. I'm in MN, too. I bet the reason they use sprint is cheaper data plans...
Dave @ Aug 31st 2008 3:18PM
I own the Motorola Q on Sprint. Aside from the phone-as-a-modem, I want to chuck the thing across my room on a daily basis. It's the biggest p.o.s. phone I've ever owned. Total garbage. $379 for this shit? I feel like I'd have to pay somebody to take it from me.
deyanimay @ Aug 31st 2008 3:39PM
Wait you never herd of a sero plan, you must be paying a fortune on AT&T.
CSteel @ Aug 31st 2008 3:55PM
So since Verizon now has their open network thing going, does that mean we can choose between the Sprint and Verizon varieties of the HTC Touch Pro and HTC Diamond?
Jacques67 @ Aug 31st 2008 6:41PM
Don't feed the trolls.
yokken @ Aug 31st 2008 6:46PM
I'm really, really hoping that an unbranded Touch Pro is around $600 as well. Yeah, it's a lot, but, well, it's a beast of a phone. If the keyboard is good and the OS is fast, I'm pretty much sold. $300 sub'd on AT&T would be a sick deal as well.
Xenoterranos @ Aug 31st 2008 7:22PM

jesus christ people its labor day day weekend, let the tech world rest for a couple days, get out, see the sun and have a frickin' beer. in the real world.
Robert @ Sep 1st 2008 5:20PM
this is real. that is the internal document we used to look up inventory of when a phone is going to launch as well as the end of the line for the phone and when inventory is going to be expected for a phone that's sold out. this pic is legit and the back of the diamond is going to be that red flat back that everyone has been seeing in the leaked images.
fastfab @ Sep 3rd 2008 12:47AM

So I just got off the phone with the retention department at Sprint and said that HTC Diamond is still not available. Sprint had some issues and there fore as of now are uncertain about the release date for the phone.
MoreInfo @ Sep 9th 2008 3:35PM

Supposedly a Sprint pricing sheet. Not sure if it's real or not, but it looks legit.
MARINDEBORAH @ Sep 12th 2008 11:55PM
I'M CONFUSED...Is the diamond the mogul replacement? I've been waiting for the one w/ the keyboard and the vga touch screen. I can't get any answers from sprint and I returned my mogul, thinking a replacement was due any day and why buy the old model... Now my plan is messed up and rebates to our other family phones are being rejected. I just wanted a good, easy pda phone with a large keyboard. Can anyone tell me how long before this is released --- or if it is......OR... if there is something else that might take its place and help me resolve my sticky sprint account issues. (The sprint retention office handling my case no longer is in operation.) I'd appreciate any info you have!!! Thanks.
andy @ Oct 18th 2008 4:41PM
Just got off the phone with Sprint. Touch Pro release date is November 2nd.
