Nokia's North American E66 shows up in flagship stores
Barely a month after Nokia's North American E71 went on sale at the Chicago / New York flagship stores, we've received word that the QWERTY-less sibling (that'd be the E66) has now arrived at the same locales. The quad-band slider boasts support for AT&T's 3G network, and there's also a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi and all the other goodies you'd expect from another solid S60 contender. Snap it up now in Grey Steel for $540.[Via IntoMobile]

looks nice
Seems a tad on the pricey side, no?
Good smartphones cost a lot, this is slightly cheaper than iPhone though. (Before someone mentions)
And why... does this cost more than the e71 again ?
For the same reasons the E65 was much better than the E61i. Having owned both phones, you essentially get the exact same bundle in a different form factor. It's easier to dial with the E65/E66, and also, believe it or not it's a lot faster to type with the E65/E66 when the dictionary mode is on. Not to mention how more comfortable the E65/E66 is to hold, or have in your pocket. And finally, the slider phone is a lot classier than the geek-ish qwerty...
The advantage the E61I/E71 had was the bigger landscape orientation. Watching movies, tv shows, and playing games was a lot more fun on those phones.
So there had to be a slight difference in prices...
hmm. i was under the impression that a keyboard would end up makin it cost more. I just thought it was a matter of preference... remember when the mda, sda came out ? kinda like that.. small differences but the MAJOR difference was the input style..
posted from geekish e71-2 ;)
e71 is about $490 in the flagship store, and I'm told they give you a free new loaner if yours breaks
im not a fan of nokias sliders OR flips. They always look boxy, bulky and bland. Go the alliteration.
I have a question. Does the pronunciation of Nokia differ around the globe?
How do you pronounce it, No-kia or Knock-ia?
They don't compaire how phones look in business the same way that girls do in Junior High, you won't get expelled from the Cool CEOs click if you wind up with the wrong color phone...
Regarding pronunciation, if you hear a Finnish person say it, it's close to your example 'knock-ia', though the 'o' isn't quite as flat as in knock. Still a pretty flat 'o', though. But in America, for example, most people pronounce it "noh-KEE-ah" anyway, kind of like how they pronounce Ikea like "eye-KEE-ah". :)
This is the best phone on the market. The best.
Classy.
Super-thin slider.
Highly, highly functional. Best browser, best 3rd party applications...etc.
It has customized VOIP integrated right on the Start screen.
... and it's a high-end, Nokia phone, with all the build quality you can expect. If I wasn't so obsessed with Android, I'd sell my E65 and get the E66 in a heartbeat.
TareX's description really makes me want to consider this phone. However, as a T-mobile user, I really need a version of this w/ compatible T-mobile 3G bands.
The E71-2 sucked with ATT network.
ATT network needs big overhaul before I go back to them.
That has to be a matter of where your at because my E71-2 works great with ATT. I have 4 or 5 bars of 3g usually except for when i'm in engineering labs that are in the basement at school. All for 15 bucks!
Unlocked I hope?
Of course - American operators are somehow allergic to the thought of picking up a high-end Nokia...
Does it have the 4Mbps infrared that is in all phones in Japan now? I have an N80 and the photo quality with the 3megapixel is great. I can beam great looking photos to friends right away without having to upload to flicker first! We tried videos and music but takes too long with the current infrared. When will we get faster infrared?
