Down for everyone or just you? AT&T experiencing a major data outage on the East Coast.

Ruh-roh. AT&T's wireless data service seems to be down in a major way, at least on the eastern half of the country. We're seeing problems with both Edge and 3G from places such as Boston, New York and St. Louis. It's primarily iPhone users pinging us on this, and in AT&T's forums, but we're guessing it's not just limited to them. How is it looking for you?[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]
Update: We've just spoken to AT&T and they've told us they're "aware of the reports." We'll keep our ear to the ground and update as soon as we have more.
Update 2: AT&T now tells us that it all came down to a "routing issue" in the Northeast that was patched up at 11:56AM this morning. For what it's worth, BlackBerry and text services were apparently unaffected -- but we doubt that's much consolation to iPhone users in withdrawl.
Data is down down down in Louisiana. Could be that everyone is trying to use it at the same time.
AT&T Inc said on Wednesday that its mobile data services such as Web surfing had stopped working very early on Wednesday, primarily affecting customers in the Northeastern United States and that the company had fixed the problem just before noon.
The exclusive U.S. provider for Apple Inc's iPhone, which is popular among web surfers, said the problem did not affect voice calls, text messages or mobile e-mail on Research In Motion Ltd BlackBerry devices.
"We identified it as a routing issue in the way data is routed to and from wireless devices," said AT&T spokesman Mark Siegel.
He would not provide more details about the cause of the problem which affected the company's fastest data network as well as its older slower data services.

No 3G/Edge in my part of Southern California in Irvine, CA. I noticed it around 11:00-11:15am local time. Anyone else on the West coast not getting 3G/Edge?
I call them up for Credit , I am in NYC, the CSR wouldn't give me, they said it need to be a day of outage. 7 hr is not.
I'm in Jersey City and I called them around noon and got the rep to give me credit..originally she only wanted to credit me back 1 day (approx ~$1), but that's unacceptable, esp if some of us use it for business...after all, didn't they push Exchange compatibility as one of the new features of the iPhone? If you calmly explain how much this outage affected you, they'll be able to credit you somewhere around $10-15. If the rep won't budge, ask for a supervisor. Just be curteous, but firm. And if you've been an AT&T customer for a while, emphasize that as well.
Is that why I had no signal when I tried to text message my friend with my iPhone 3G today? :(
For a Sec I thought this was going to be about their home service. I have U-verse, AT&T phone and AT&T internet. All the services are down in my area. They are supposed to have it fixed today. Apparently some construction guys broke an underground cable somewhere.
I'm talking to an AT&T rep now and he's claiming he knows nothing about the problem.
For the record I'm using an HTC 8525 in New Jersey....I've been having problems with disconnects since last Thursday.
They must have gotten a tall order from the NSA because of the conventions going on. You can only tap so many phones and sniff so many packets before the whole network starts to suffer ;)
Is that why my shit is faster today over here in Cali? HEHEHEHEHHEE. Fuck the east coast.
My display shows full bars, but I've been data-less and call-less all day. Anyone else having both these problems?
Also, network services in general have only been working at about a 50% rate for the past few weeks.
The longer this goes on, the more $179 starts to seem like a bargain.
Funny, I had no idea about the outage because my iPhone 3g (which I in general love) so rarely gets Edge/3G internet that it was just like any other day.
Yea mine was down and I dont even have an Iphone, wait I dont have At&t, thats why I rule! Go T-Mobile! Yes I'm a loser, aw he's a loser :o(

New Jersey is down.... well its usual for 3G and edge to be down in NJ.. This state sucks. Highways gas stations and Trees..
