Mio's two-faced LEAP K1 gets unboxed
It's been quite awhile since Mio's LEAP K1 was introduced overseas, but now we're getting an up close and personal look thanks to one particular unboxer over at Mobile01. The two-faced mobile looks like a typical handset from the front, but upon flipping it over, you'll find another side to this critter -- one that fancies GPS navigation. We're not too sure how we feel about having to safeguard displays on both sides of the handset, but if we had access to plenty of screen protectors, we suppose we could get used to all that added functionality. Hit the read link for lots more pics.

This is definitely NOT an iphone clone.
does it come in 3G?
SimonRichards @ Sep 3rd 2008 2:35PM
It has a front-facing camera, and one of the pictures has a "G" on the screen, so I think it is safe to assume that it is 3G.

No. It isn't an iPhone clone.
And personally I don't see the point >.<
meh.

nobody cares if a phone resembles something made by a super gaunt snob wearing blacklight theatre clothing... moving on.
2 screens is neat, but aside from wanting it to be 'gimmicky' i hope the screens aren't limited to a narrow scope of use, and let you use them interchangeably... maybe even a cool effect where one screen has the reverse image of what's on the other... but that's probably asking too much for what is nothing more than a novelty item anyway.

"We're not too sure how we feel about having to safeguard displays on both sides of the handset"
Not a good idea, has FAIL written all over it... how do I know? Today I just got a free Samsung Upstage on a PREPAID UPGRADE because the dual phone display is crap....
PREPAID! They just can't get rid of these things.. the battery is dead dry so I know it has been sitting in the warehouse for some time... that and the date code...
Samsung Upstage the iPhone killer... Samsung you piece of shi....

"If we make a phone, like the iPhone but with 2 sides and for the same cost, it'd be like getting 2 for the price of one!"

I have the LG Voyager - the touch screens are much better than even a year ago. I don't know which I like better the navigation on a phone, or Ghostbusters on a flash drive!!

Gahh, I had an Upstage...2 faced phones are BAD IDEA!!!. That was hand's down the CRAPPIEST phone I have ever dealt with (I was wowed by the geek factor..)
to even USE it for an extended period, you had to have the battery wallet on it. Which of course, negated the flip effect nicely. Made it obnoxious.
Mio? you fail.

how can something fail when you've never even tried it before...hence you fail.
