Hands-on with LG's BD300 Netflix / Blu-ray deck
When we waltzed over to have a gander at LG's recently priced BD300, one of the reps on hand wasn't so keen on letting us take close-ups. Not one to just roll over and accept a command, we casually walked over to the other BD300 kiosk, flashed the Engadget gang sign to the much kinder rep, and continued on to snap a few shots of the new box. The unit set up was fully functional and able to stream Netflix movies, and it even detected the network connection before playing in order to deliver the best quality without introducing skips and stutters. Feel free to get all up in your monitor when checking out the gallery over at Engadget HD, we won't hassle ya. One love.

It is about time this got shown off. I worry that this will only add to the US' knack for obesity.
I have an Apple TV and for the life of me I cannot figure out why Apple & Netflix don't partner up and make it an officially kick ass killer device! The iTunes store for movies works extremely well on the Apple TV but the selection just straight up sucks...Nice to see someone grew a brain and partnered with Netflix, just too bad it wasn't Apple.
In apple's eyes netflix accounts are competition to iTunes Movie Rentals.
I agree, add netflix usability and DVR please.
one problem about downloaded HD content... Almost all cable companies are going to do bandwidth limits. So unless they don't plan on watching many downloaded HD movies, there could be future problems awaiting...
I like the slick LED text displays that haven't changed since the first VCRs.
Man has walked on the moon. Blu Ray optical discs can transfer what, 54 Mbit/s? And they stick an LCD from the early 80's on the front. Eyecandy, fellas, Netflix you really pushed the boat out on that one.
Gah, beaten to it.
But I liked yours better, Wait. :)
Those LEDs are pretty darn retro but i kinda like it!
i know it's only LED but i like it
Not sure why anyone cares if the display is LED or watercolor. Can anyone explain?
this thing looks pretty damn sweet!
The thing could look like a dog turd, I don't really care what it looks like.
I want to know how well it works and how much it cost.
